Returns Plus ‑ Australia Post vs SureBright Product Protectionfor Shopify (2026)
Returns Plus ‑ Australia Post and SureBright Product Protection both address aspects of returns and customer satisfaction, but target fundamentally different needs. Returns Plus focuses on streamlining the reverse logistics process for merchants already handling a high volume of returns with Australia Post. It emphasizes automation and customization within the returns workflow itself, allowing merchants to control return rules and branding. In contrast, SureBright Product Protection aims to *prevent* returns by offering extended warranties and shipping insurance. It positions itself as a revenue-generating tool through shared earnings on protection plans, while also boosting customer trust by insuring against product damage or loss. The key difference lies in their approach. Returns Plus offers a solution for managing existing return flows with Australia Post, primarily for merchants who are already integrated with their parcel contracts and shipping infrastructure. SureBright, on the other hand, provides a preventative measure by offering product protection plans that are presented during the purchase journey. This caters to merchants wanting to enhance customer experience, loyalty, and profitability by mitigating risks associated with damaged, lost, or faulty goods. SureBright handles claims and customer service, offloading the administrative burden from the merchant. Returns Plus places the responsibility for managing return rules and approvals on the merchant.

Our Verdict
For merchants already processing a large number of returns through Australia Post and seeking tighter control and branding of their returns process, Returns Plus *could* be a solution, *assuming* the low rating is due to early-stage bugs that are being actively addressed. However, the extremely low rating and single review are significant red flags and warrant extreme caution. Merchants should thoroughly investigate before committing.
SureBright Product Protection is better suited for merchants prioritizing customer loyalty, increased profits, and hands-off risk management. It provides a value-added service at the point of sale, mitigating potential negative experiences and generating revenue. The high rating and numerous reviews suggest a more reliable and effective solution for most merchants aiming to improve the overall customer journey and reduce return-related anxieties without directly managing returns logistics.
Common Questions
Which app handles the entire return process for the customer?
Returns Plus lets the customer organize a return and choose a drop-off point, but requires the merchant to define the return rules and manage approvals. SureBright doesn't handle product *returns* directly, but ensures customers are protected with warranty and insurance, potentially bypassing the need for a traditional return if the product is damaged or lost.
Which app is more likely to increase revenue?
SureBright directly increases revenue through revenue sharing on product protection plans. Returns Plus may indirectly impact revenue by improving customer satisfaction with the returns process, but this is not a direct revenue stream.
Which app is easier to set up and manage?
Based on the descriptions, SureBright appears easier to set up, requiring minimal time commitment and offloading customer support and claims management. Returns Plus requires configuring custom rules and managing the return process, implying a greater time investment.
Which app requires an existing relationship with Australia Post?
Returns Plus requires an existing Australia Post parcel contract and is optimized for merchants already shipping a large volume of parcels through them. SureBright doesn't have this requirement.
If I'm a small Shopify store owner, which app is better for me?
Given the ease of setup, hands-off approach, and revenue-generating potential, SureBright Product Protection is likely a better fit for small Shopify store owners. Returns Plus seems more appropriate for larger businesses with established shipping infrastructure and a high return volume through Australia Post. The single 1-star review is also a strong indicator that Returns Plus is potentially unreliable.
