ReviewsYard — Product Reviews vs Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+for Shopify (2026)
ReviewsYard — Product Reviews and Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+ both aim to enhance Shopify stores, but they take vastly different approaches. ReviewsYard focuses squarely on product reviews, providing tools to collect, display, and leverage customer feedback to build trust and drive conversions. Its core strength lies in automated review requests, incentive programs, and easy review import. On the other hand, Squid offers a much broader suite of features, positioning itself as an all-in-one growth engine, encompassing upsells, cross-sells, AI recommendations, and a variety of other tools beyond just product reviews. The primary distinction lies in scope. ReviewsYard is a specialized review app, ideal for merchants prioritizing authentic user-generated content. Squid, however, is a multifaceted app designed to improve AOV through various sales and marketing tactics, with reviews being just one component of its offering. Because of its many more features, Squid is also likely to have a steeper learning curve than ReviewsYard, which offers a simplified, focused experience. The choice between the two depends on the merchant's specific needs: a dedicated review management solution or a comprehensive AOV-boosting platform.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose primary objective is to enhance trust and credibility through genuine product reviews, and who value simplicity and ease of use, ReviewsYard — Product Reviews is the more suitable choice. Its focus on automated review collection, display, and incentive programs makes it a powerful tool for leveraging customer feedback.
However, if the goal is to significantly boost Average Order Value (AOV) through a variety of sales and marketing tactics, including upsells, cross-sells, and AI recommendations, then Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+ offers a more comprehensive solution. While it requires a greater time investment to learn and configure all its features, the potential for increased AOV may justify the added complexity. If the store already handles reviews well, there's no need to switch to Squid just for its basic reviews feature.
