RevUp: Cart Upsell & Free Gift vs Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+for Shopify (2026)
In 2026, merchants choosing between RevUp: Cart Upsell & Free Gift and Squid: Reviews, Upsells & 25+ for their Shopify stores face a significant decision. RevUp positions itself as a dedicated cart upsell solution focusing on AI-driven product recommendations, free gifts, and strategic upsells throughout the shopping journey. It emphasizes cart progress bars and floating add-to-cart bars, suggesting a focus on reducing cart abandonment and maximizing immediate purchase value. However, it lacks user reviews, indicating potential risk. Squid, on the other hand, aims to provide a more comprehensive solution. Squid offers a broader range of features extending beyond just upsells, including customer reviews, trust badges, email popups, and even birthday collection, suggesting a focus on holistic customer engagement and building trust. It leverages AI recommendations and upsells, but also incorporates features to establish credibility (reviews) and gather customer data. The 5/5 rating with 11 reviews indicates an established user base and positive feedback. The feature set implies Squid is targeting merchants seeking a multifaceted approach to growth, while RevUp leans towards those prioritizing streamlined cart-focused upsell strategies.

Our Verdict
For merchants solely focused on optimizing their cart and AOV with a simple and direct upsell approach, RevUp *might* be appealing if they are willing to take a risk on an unproven app. However, the lack of reviews and the availability of a more established and feature-rich alternative makes it a questionable choice in most cases.
Squid is the stronger recommendation for most Shopify merchants. Its positive rating, existing reviews, and broader feature set, including customer reviews and trust badges, offer a more holistic solution for increasing sales and building customer trust. Squid is more suitable for merchants looking for a robust and multifaceted approach, extending beyond just upsells to encompass customer engagement and social proof.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the information available, it's impossible to determine which app is easier to set up. However, an app with established reviews, like Squid, often has better documentation and support resources, making it potentially easier to use.
Which app offers better customization options?
Both apps claim to offer customizable upsell widgets and popups. RevUp specifically mentions customizing the look and feel, while Squid mentions custom fields for customer engagement, suggesting both offer significant customization, but in different areas.
Which app focuses more on building customer trust?
Squid explicitly focuses on building customer trust with features like displaying authentic customer reviews and trust badges. RevUp does not directly address trust-building features.
Is either app better suited for stores with a limited product catalog?
While neither app explicitly caters to stores with small product catalogs, RevUp's focus on AI recommendations might be less effective with a limited selection. Squid's broader feature set, including reviews and engagement tools, could still provide value regardless of catalog size.
Which app offers post-purchase upsell opportunities?
Squid specifically mentions post-purchase upsells, while RevUp does not mention this feature explicitly. Therefore, Squid is the better choice for merchants looking to implement post-purchase upsell strategies.
