Sample Products ‑‑ Try N Buy vs SweepPea: Buy‑to‑Enter Sweepsfor Shopify (2026)
Sample Products ‑‑ Try N Buy and SweepPea: Buy‑to‑Enter Sweeps both aim to increase sales for Shopify merchants, but they employ drastically different strategies. Sample Products leverages free product samples based on cart value to incentivize customers to increase their order value and discover new items. It positions itself as a smart upsell and cross-sell tool, particularly effective for brands in cosmetics, healthcare, food supplements, pet products, and FMCG. In contrast, SweepPea uses a sweepstakes entry system, awarding customers entries for every dollar spent. This encourages higher spending by offering a chance to win prizes. The core difference lies in the value proposition: Sample Products offers tangible free items that directly relate to the product catalog, fostering product discovery and perceived value. SweepPea offers a chance to win, which is less direct but potentially more exciting for some customers. Sample Products emphasizes increased average order value and reduced reliance on discounts, while SweepPea focuses on building sales and order value through sweepstakes promotions and ease of legal compliance. SweepPea also highlights its 'no-code legal compliance' feature which suggests its target audience may have limited experience with legal matters related to giveaways.

Our Verdict
For merchants in categories like cosmetics, health & wellness, or food where sampling is a natural fit and directly influences purchase decisions, Sample Products ‑‑ Try N Buy presents a more targeted and potentially more effective strategy. The ability to let customers choose their samples offers a more personalized experience that can foster loyalty and increase AOV. However, the lower number of reviews should be taken into consideration.
SweepPea: Buy‑to‑Enter Sweeps is a broader tool suitable for any store seeking to increase average order value through the excitement of sweepstakes. Its simplified setup and built-in legal compliance make it an attractive option for merchants who may be new to running promotions or concerned about legal pitfalls. While it may not be as targeted as Sample Products, it offers an easy way to incentivize customers to spend more. The extremely limited reviews, though positive, means testing SweepPea on a small scale is recommended before committing to a large campaign.
