Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner vs Super GDPR Cookie Consentfor Shopify (2026)
Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner and Super GDPR Cookie Consent both aim to provide cookie consent banners for Shopify stores. Scala focuses on simplicity and quick setup, boasting a high rating and positive early reviews, targeting merchants prioritizing ease of use and basic GDPR compliance within the EU. Crucially, it's a barebones solution, requiring merchants to handle the actual cookie blocking themselves. Super GDPR Cookie Consent, on the other hand, positions itself as a comprehensive compliance solution for GDPR, CCPA, and other international data privacy regulations. It promises advanced features like automatic cookie scanning, multilingual support, privacy policy generation, integration with Google Consent Mode v2, and handling customer data requests, appealing to merchants needing robust, globally compliant cookie management. The significant downside currently is the complete lack of reviews, indicating either it's brand new or experiencing issues.

Our Verdict
Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner is the clear choice for Shopify merchants who prioritize simplicity and speed of implementation, and are comfortable manually managing cookie blocking based on user consent. Its positive early reviews (although few) suggest a user-friendly experience. It's suitable for businesses primarily focused on basic EU GDPR compliance.
Super GDPR Cookie Consent, while promising a more complete solution, carries significant risk due to the complete absence of reviews. If a merchant requires advanced features such as automatic cookie scanning, multilingual support, and comprehensive global compliance coverage (including CCPA and other regulations), they *might* consider Super GDPR Cookie Consent, but only after thorough research and potentially contacting the developer for more information. Given the lack of validation, Scala is the safer choice unless Super GDPR can acquire a track record.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner appears to be easier to set up based on its description highlighting quick configuration and theme editor integration. Super GDPR Cookie Consent, with its wider range of features, likely involves a more complex setup process.
Which app offers more comprehensive compliance?
Super GDPR Cookie Consent aims for more comprehensive compliance, covering GDPR, CCPA, and other international regulations, plus offering privacy policy generation and customer data request handling. Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner primarily focuses on providing the banner itself, placing the responsibility of actual compliance on the merchant.
Which app better handles cookie blocking?
Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner explicitly states that it does *not* block cookies; the merchant is responsible. Super GDPR Cookie Consent implies handling cookie blocking through its cookie scanner and management features, although this is not explicitly stated.
Which app is a better choice for a store selling only in the EU?
If the store is only selling in the EU and the merchant is comfortable manually managing cookie blocking, Scala GDPR EU Cookie Banner offers a simpler and potentially faster solution. However, one must ensure full legal compliance in the cookie blocking.
Which app is more future-proof given evolving privacy regulations?
Super GDPR Cookie Consent's broader coverage of international regulations (CCPA, LGPD, etc.) and integration with technologies like Google Consent Mode v2 *suggests* it may be more future-proof. However, lack of reviews makes this hard to rely on.
