Section Store: Theme Sections vs Theme Accessfor Shopify (2026)
Section Store: Theme Sections and Theme Access are both apps listed within the 'Storefronts' category on the Shopify app store, however, they serve drastically different purposes. Section Store focuses on enhancing the visual and functional aspects of a merchant's storefront by providing a library of customizable theme sections that can be easily integrated into existing themes. This is targeted toward merchants looking to improve the look and functionality of their store without extensive coding or hiring developers for custom section builds. Theme Access, conversely, prioritizes secure access management for theme developers. Its primary function is to facilitate collaboration between merchants and theme developers by providing a secure way to grant developers theme-only access, eliminating the need to create full staff accounts and mitigating security risks. The significant difference in review count highlights the different levels of adoption and maturity between the two apps. Section Store, with over 1100 reviews, suggests wider adoption and a more established presence in the Shopify ecosystem. Theme Access, with only one review, appears to be a relatively new or niche offering. While both apps aim to improve the storefront, Section Store is designed for merchants who need visual and functional enhancements, whereas Theme Access is targeted at merchants who outsource theme development and require a secure method for developer access.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to visually enhance their store and add new functionality without needing extensive coding or developer help, Section Store: Theme Sections is the clear winner. Its library of pre-built, customizable sections provides a quick and easy way to improve the look and feel of their Shopify store. The large number of positive reviews suggests that other merchants have found it valuable.
On the other hand, if a merchant regularly collaborates with theme developers or agencies to customize their theme, Theme Access is the more suitable choice. It offers a secure and controlled way to grant developers access to the theme without compromising the security of the entire store. While the app currently has very few reviews, its focus on security and access management makes it valuable for merchants with external development partners.
