Selling Point vs Video Greet: Gift Messagingfor Shopify (2026)
Selling Point and Video Greet: Gift Messaging both cater to the 'Gifts' category on Shopify, but serve fundamentally different needs. Selling Point focuses on back-end efficiency and data migration, specifically enabling merchants to transfer existing gift card and store credit balances from other platforms to Shopify. Its core strength lies in streamlining the migration process, saving merchants time and resources previously spent on manual transfers or custom development. The target audience is merchants switching to Shopify or consolidating their gift card systems. Video Greet: Gift Messaging, in contrast, is a customer-facing app that enhances the gift-giving experience. It empowers customers to add personalized video, audio, and written messages to their orders, creating a more engaging and memorable interaction. This app primarily focuses on improving customer satisfaction, increasing order value, and providing opportunities for brand promotion through custom QR landing pages. It’s ideal for businesses looking to differentiate their gift offerings and leverage personalization. While both have perfect 5/5 ratings, Selling Point boasts more reviews, suggesting it has either been around longer, has more satisfied users, or actively solicits reviews. The key distinction lies in backend efficiency versus customer experience enhancement.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing to migrate existing gift card or store credit data to Shopify, Selling Point is the clear choice. It addresses a specific pain point and provides a streamlined solution to a potentially complex problem. If a business is starting fresh with gift card programs on Shopify, it's functionality is less relevant.
Video Greet: Gift Messaging is better suited for merchants who want to enhance their customer's gift-giving experience and potentially increase revenue through premium gift messaging options. This app adds a layer of personalization that can differentiate a store from competitors and foster customer loyalty. Businesses that handle corporate gifting or large-volume orders are especially likely to benefit from the dynamic QR landing page feature.
