SEO On: AI Product Description vs Webify Metafields Editorfor Shopify (2026)
SEO On: AI Product Description and Webify Metafields Editor, while both falling under the 'Content' category on Shopify, address very different needs. SEO On focuses on automatically generating SEO-optimized product descriptions using AI, aiming to boost sales through improved search engine rankings and compelling product copy. It targets merchants looking to automate content creation, particularly those lacking the time or resources for manual copywriting or struggling with SEO. In contrast, Webify Metafields Editor is a data management tool that allows merchants to easily create, edit, and manage metafields across their entire store, providing a centralized view and control over custom data. Webify Metafields Editor is aimed at merchants who need detailed product customization or want to surface information for customers on the store front that is not traditionally available within Shopify, specifically merchants using Online Store 2.0 themes. The focus is on organization, data integrity through backups, and control over information. While SEO On focuses on top-of-funnel activities (getting shoppers to the product), Webify enables much more sophisticated product page customization.
