SEO Speed Image Optimizer vs Smart Seo Boostfor Shopify (2026)
SEO Speed Image Optimizer and Smart Seo Boost both target SEO improvement for Shopify stores, but they focus on different aspects and cater to different needs. SEO Speed Image Optimizer emphasizes image optimization, specifically focusing on resizing, compressing, and optimizing alt text for images to improve site speed and search engine visibility. It targets merchants concerned about the impact of large, unoptimized images on their SEO and page load times. Smart Seo Boost, on the other hand, aims to improve search engine ranking and organic traffic by optimizing product meta-descriptions and image alt text. Its primary focus appears to be on general SEO improvements without explicitly mentioning site speed or image optimization beyond alt text, implying a broader but potentially less specialized approach. The key difference lies in their core offerings. SEO Speed Image Optimizer is a comprehensive image optimization tool with features like bulk image editing and SEO image reports. Smart Seo Boost presents itself as a continuously running background process to optimize product listings, with emphasis on keyword ranking. The significant disparity in ratings and the number of reviews suggests a considerably more positive and widespread adoption of SEO Speed Image Optimizer among Shopify merchants. The ease of use, based on the descriptions, may be higher for Smart Seo Boost as it boasts 'click start', while SEO Speed Image Optimizer contains more functionality, implying a potentially steeper learning curve.

Our Verdict
For merchants heavily focused on image SEO, improving site speed, and optimizing image-related alt text for search engines, SEO Speed Image Optimizer is the clear choice. Its comprehensive features and significantly higher ratings indicate greater satisfaction and effectiveness. The SEO image report further strengthens its value proposition, providing tangible data on optimization efforts.
However, for merchants seeking a more hands-off approach and general SEO improvements, especially concerning keyword ranking and product meta-descriptions, Smart Seo Boost might be considered. But the low rating and limited reviews warrant extreme caution and further investigation before committing. Given the data, SEO Speed Image Optimizer presents a significantly lower risk and higher potential reward for most Shopify merchants focused on improving their site's SEO.
Common Questions
Which app is better for improving site speed?
SEO Speed Image Optimizer is specifically designed to improve site speed by optimizing images, making it the better choice for this purpose.
Does Smart Seo Boost compress images?
The description does not explicitly state that Smart Seo Boost compresses images. Its focus is on optimizing product descriptions and renaming alt image text.
Which app is easier to use?
Smart Seo Boost appears to be easier to use, based on the 'click start' description, suggesting a simpler setup. SEO Speed Image Optimizer, with its wider range of features, may have a slightly steeper learning curve.
Which app offers reporting on SEO performance?
SEO Speed Image Optimizer provides an SEO image report to track optimization efforts. Smart Seo Boost does not explicitly mention reporting capabilities.
Is one app better for new Shopify store owners?
Given the ease of use (inferred) and the claim to continuous optimization, Smart Seo Boost *might* seem initially appealing for a very novice user. However, the low rating suggests significant issues and risks. SEO Speed Image Optimizer, while potentially requiring more effort upfront, offers a more concrete and targeted approach to SEO with better chances of positive results, even for new store owners, so is arguably the better, albeit potentially more challenging, option.
