SEO Speed Image Optimizer vs SPO ‑ SEO Product Optimizerfor Shopify (2026)
SEO Speed Image Optimizer and SPO ‑ SEO Product Optimizer both aim to improve a Shopify store's search engine optimization (SEO), but they approach it from different angles. SEO Speed Image Optimizer focuses specifically on image optimization, targeting slow loading times and poor alt text as culprits that hinder SEO. It streamlines the process of image resizing, compression, alt text optimization, and provides reports on image SEO performance. SPO ‑ SEO Product Optimizer takes a broader approach, focusing on social media optimization, keyword research, and structured data implementation. SEO Speed Image Optimizer seems geared toward merchants who want a straightforward solution to address image-related SEO issues. Its bulk edit feature and SEO image reports highlight its value proposition of efficiency and measurable results. SPO ‑ SEO Product Optimizer, on the other hand, appeals to merchants looking for a more comprehensive SEO toolkit that includes social media marketing and keyword discovery. SPO also focuses on improving social sharing previews and implementing rich snippets. The significant difference in review count suggests a maturity difference between the two apps, with SEO Speed Image Optimizer having a much larger established user base.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with improving site speed and optimizing images for SEO, SEO Speed Image Optimizer is the clear choice. Its focus on image compression, alt text, and bulk editing provides a targeted solution. The high rating and large number of reviews suggest a reliable and effective tool.
If a merchant is looking for a broader SEO solution that includes social media optimization, keyword research, and structured data implementation, SPO ‑ SEO Product Optimizer is the better option. However, the lower rating and smaller number of reviews should be considered. It is important to consider that SPO has capabilities beyond what SEO Speed Image Optimizer provides, like social share image customization, which might be crucial for businesses focusing on Social Commerce.
