SEO Speed Image Optimizer vs XO Galleryfor Shopify (2026)
SEO Speed Image Optimizer and XO Gallery cater to different image-related needs on Shopify in 2026. SEO Speed Image Optimizer positions itself as a crucial SEO tool, emphasizing image optimization for site speed and search engine visibility. Its core strength lies in automated image compression, resizing, alt text optimization, and bulk editing capabilities specifically designed to improve SEO performance. This makes it ideal for merchants prioritizing organic search traffic and faster loading times. XO Gallery, on the other hand, appears to focus on image presentation and user experience, though the provided information doesn't detail its specific feature set beyond being categorized under 'Images and media'. Its slightly lower rating (4.9/5) and fewer reviews (160) suggest a potentially different, or perhaps more niche, target audience. The key difference lies in their primary value proposition. SEO Speed Image Optimizer prioritizes backend image optimization for SEO and performance, offering features like bulk image editing and SEO image reports. While XO Gallery also handles images, it is not clear to what extent it handles the background SEO. Therefore a merchant using XO Gallery may want to also use an image optimizing app like SEO Speed Image Optimizer. The optimal choice depends on whether the merchant needs improved SEO or a different type of image solution.
