Shipping Protection —Shipcheck vs Warranty Registration ‑ Propelfor Shopify (2026)
Shipping Protection —Shipcheck and Warranty Registration ‑ Propel, while both operating within the 'Returns and warranty' and 'Warranties and insurance' categories on Shopify, address fundamentally different needs for merchants. Shipcheck focuses on providing merchants with a tool to manage and profit from shipping protection, allowing them to offer insurance against lost, damaged, or stolen goods directly to their customers. It emphasizes revenue generation, control over insurance fees, and building customer trust through customizable protection options. Propel, on the other hand, centers on post-purchase product registration and warranty claim management, aiming to streamline after-sales support, foster customer relationships, and encourage repeat business. The key distinction lies in their core functionalities: Shipcheck is about *preventing* revenue loss due to shipping issues and potentially *increasing* revenue through insurance fees, whereas Propel is about *managing* post-sale issues and building *long-term customer loyalty* through efficient warranty processing. Shipcheck is best suited for merchants concerned with shipping-related costs and looking to control their own shipping insurance program. Propel targets merchants who sell products with warranties and need a system to manage product registrations, warranty claims, and serial numbers effectively.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with mitigating risks associated with shipping and controlling their own insurance program to potentially generate additional revenue, Shipping Protection —Shipcheck is the clear choice. Its positive rating and existing reviews provide a degree of confidence. Its revenue-generating potential is a strong selling point.
Conversely, merchants focused on providing excellent after-sales service, managing product warranties efficiently, and fostering long-term customer loyalty will find Warranty Registration ‑ Propel more suitable. While it currently lacks reviews, its features target a different, but equally important, aspect of the customer journey. If after-sales support and warranty management are critical to your business model, Propel is the better option. However, be aware of the risk of using an app without existing reviews or user data.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, both apps aim for ease of use. Shipcheck highlights a 'fully customizable widget', suggesting visual customization. Propel emphasizes an 'easy-to-use drag & drop form builder'. Without user reviews for Propel, it's hard to say definitively, but both appear relatively straightforward to implement.
Which app has better customer support?
The provided data doesn't explicitly mention the quality of customer support for either app. However, Shipcheck's established user base and positive reviews (39 reviews, 5/5 rating) might suggest a more responsive support system compared to Propel, which currently has no reviews.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, it is technically possible to use both apps concurrently. However, it is essential to ensure they don't create a confusing customer experience. One handles shipping protection, while the other manages product warranties. There is no inherent conflict, though clear communication about coverage is essential.
Which app is more suitable for high-value products?
Shipping Protection —Shipcheck is particularly well-suited for high-value products, as it directly addresses the risk of loss, damage, or theft during shipping. The insurance revenue offsets potential losses on those high-value items. Propel is less directly impactful on mitigating the financial risk of shipping such items but could improve brand perception with effective warranty management.
What are the hidden costs associated with each app?
The information provided does not explicitly state the pricing for each app. Be sure to verify the apps pricing structure, hidden fees, and whether there are limitations on free tiers (if available) before making a decision.
