Shipping Rates & Rule ‑ Shipfy vs Shopify Checkout Blocksfor Shopify (2026)
Shipping Rates & Rule ‑ Shipfy and Shopify Checkout Blocks both target the Checkout category on Shopify, but address vastly different needs. Shipfy focuses on granular control and customization of shipping rates and options at the checkout page, providing merchants with tools to manipulate how shipping rates are presented and calculated based on various conditions like customer tags, product categories, and even zip codes. Its strength lies in providing advanced shipping rule configuration, acting as a potential COD alternative, and offering scheduling options. It appears to be targeting merchants who need fine-grained control over their shipping logic and customer experience. Shopify Checkout Blocks, on the other hand, centers on customizing the Order status and Thank You pages for all merchants. More importantly, however, it provides advanced customization options for the checkout itself, like content blocks, custom fields, and order/shipping discounts BUT only for Shopify Plus merchants. It provides address validation and payment method customization only to Shopify Plus merchants. Therefore, its target audience is Shopify Plus subscribers looking to enhance the post-purchase experience and gain more control over the checkout process using its exclusive feature set.

Our Verdict
For standard Shopify merchants needing to manage shipping costs, offer specific shipping rates based on customer segments or location, or block PO Boxes, Shipping Rates & Rule ‑ Shipfy is the clear choice. It provides a comprehensive suite of shipping customization options that are not dependent on a Shopify Plus subscription.
Shopify Checkout Blocks is primarily suited for Shopify Plus merchants seeking to deeply customize the checkout experience using custom fields and content blocks. While all Shopify merchants can use it to customize the Order status and Thank You pages, the more powerful checkout customization features are exclusively available to Plus subscribers. If you are not a Shopify Plus subscriber, the limited features it offers may not justify its use, especially when compared to the robust shipping rule management provided by Shipfy.
Common Questions
Can both apps customize the checkout experience?
Yes, but Shopify Checkout Blocks' advanced checkout customization features (content blocks, custom fields, etc.) are *exclusively* for Shopify Plus merchants. Shipfy offers all Shopify merchants the ability to customize shipping rates and rules at checkout.
Which app is better for non-Shopify Plus merchants?
Shipping Rates & Rule ‑ Shipfy is the better choice for non-Shopify Plus merchants needing checkout customization, as it provides valuable shipping rate management features. Shopify Checkout Blocks offers limited value to non-Plus users outside of Order Status/Thank You page changes.
Which app is easier to use?
It's difficult to say definitively without user testing. Shipfy *might* be more complex given its granular shipping rule creation capabilities. Shopify Checkout Blocks might have a simple user interface for modifying Order Status and Thank You Pages. Shopify Plus merchants will likely find Shopify Checkout Blocks more useful. Overall, if only the shipping rules are used in Shipfy it could also be easier than the complexity of Shopify Checkout Blocks for a PLUS user.
Do either of these apps integrate with specific carriers (UPS, FedEx, etc.)?
The provided descriptions do not mention specific carrier integrations for either app. However, Shipfy’s ability to create shipping rules based on zip codes suggests a capacity to accommodate varying carrier costs in different areas.
What happens if a merchant installs both apps?
Installing both apps *could* be possible, but Shopify Plus merchants would need to assess potential conflicts. Since they target different areas of the checkout flow (shipping rates vs. general layout and fields), they might not directly conflict if the merchant is focused on Shipping rules. Non-Shopify Plus merchants will primarily benefit from Shipfy.
