Shipping Rates Rules & Zones vs Zapiet ‑ Rates by Zip Codefor Shopify (2026)
Shipping Rates Rules & Zones and Zapiet ‑ Rates by Zip Code are both Shopify apps designed to provide more accurate and customized shipping rates, but they cater to slightly different needs and use cases. Shipping Rates Rules & Zones positions itself as a comprehensive solution for merchants needing highly granular control over shipping rules, offering the ability to create custom shipping zones based on postal codes, cities, or regions, and to define rates based on a wide array of factors like weight, price, quantity, product, SKU, tags, and even time of day. Zapiet, on the other hand, emphasizes simplicity and ease of use, focusing primarily on calculating accurate delivery and shipping rates based on zip codes, postal codes, eircodes, and pincodes, which helps merchants avoid losing money on undercharged deliveries. The primary difference lies in the complexity of rule creation and the breadth of factors considered. Shipping Rates Rules & Zones offers advanced features like time-based rules and SKU-based rules, targeting merchants with complex inventory and shipping needs. Zapiet targets businesses aiming for straightforward zip code based rate calculation, emphasizing accuracy and integration with local delivery services (particularly through their own Pickup + Delivery app). Furthermore, Zapiet supports multiple languages for displaying rates and claims better support for UK & Canadian postal code systems.
