Shippo ‑ Simplified Shipping vs xConnectorfor Shopify (2026)
Shippo ‑ Simplified Shipping and xConnector both aim to streamline shipping for Shopify merchants, but they cater to different needs and operate on distinct scales. Shippo positions itself as an all-in-one solution for scalable shipping, emphasizing discounted rates from major international carriers and a comprehensive dashboard for managing the entire shipping process, from order import to returns. Its strengths lie in its ease of use, discounted carrier rates, and wide range of features designed for high-volume shippers. In contrast, xConnector focuses on integrating with local couriers and invoicing services, alongside offering functionalities beyond just shipping, such as a collect points widget and a mobile app for picking and packing. It appears to be geared towards merchants with specific regional shipping needs, particularly those operating within Eastern and Southern Europe, based on the carrier list provided. xConnector's strengths lie in its specialized regional carrier support and features beyond basic shipping, but it may lack the breadth of features offered by Shippo for international and high-volume shipping scenarios.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing comprehensive shipping solutions with discounted rates from major international carriers and streamlined processes for scalability, Shippo ‑ Simplified Shipping is likely the better choice. Its all-in-one dashboard and automated features cater to high-volume shippers looking to optimize their shipping operations. However, merchants primarily operating in specific European regions and requiring integration with local couriers, invoicing services, and unique features like the collect points widget should strongly consider xConnector. It's excellent user ratings also make it a worthy choice.
The best choice hinges on the merchant's specific geographic focus and the importance of integrating with local services versus leveraging discounted rates from major international carriers. If localized features and integrations are crucial, xConnector has the edge, but if the primary focus is on overall shipping cost reduction and scalability, Shippo is more suitable.
Common Questions
Which app offers more competitive shipping rates?

Which app is better for handling returns?
Both apps offer features for handling returns. Shippo explicitly mentions easy generation of return labels and elevating the customer experience. xConnector focuses on automatically collecting return requests and validating shipping addresses, implying a more automated return initiation process. The 'better' option depends on whether the merchant prioritizes easy label generation or automated request collection.
Does either app offer a free plan?
The provided descriptions do not mention whether either app offers a free plan. Further research is needed to determine the pricing models of both apps.
Which app is more suited for merchants focused on European markets?
xConnector, with its emphasis on integrating with local couriers like GLS, DPD, and Packeta, and local invoicing services, is significantly more suited for merchants focused on European markets, particularly Eastern and Southern Europe.
