Shirtly ‑ Print on Demand vs VDB Ring Creatorfor Shopify (2026)
Shirtly ‑ Print on Demand and VDB Ring Creator, both listed under the "Sourcing options - Other" Shopify category, cater to vastly different merchant needs. Shirtly focuses on print-on-demand apparel, allowing merchants to offer a range of shirt designs without managing inventory directly. VDB Ring Creator, on the other hand, is specifically designed for jewelers or merchants selling rings, enabling customers to customize their own rings by combining various gemstones and mountings. The primary difference lies in their target product category. Shirtly simplifies apparel sales, while VDB Ring Creator enhances the customer experience in the ring customization process. VDB Ring Creator positions itself as a solution for merchants seeking to offer a unique, interactive experience for ring design, combining their own inventory with virtual inventory. Given the single review and low rating for Shirtly, and the positive rating and multiple reviews for VDB Ring Creator, there is a significant discrepancy in their current standing with users.

Our Verdict
VDB Ring Creator appears to be the stronger option for Shopify merchants in the jewelry sector looking to offer customized ring options. Its high rating and multiple reviews suggest a positive user experience, and its feature set directly addresses the needs of jewelers. Conversely, Shirtly, with its low rating and lack of reviews, presents a higher risk.
For merchants specifically in the apparel space focused on print-on-demand, Shirtly *might* be considered, but the low rating and limited user feedback are cause for caution. Extensive due diligence, including contacting the developer and seeking recent user reviews, would be prudent before committing to Shirtly. If the merchant is not selling rings, VDB Ring Creator is not relevant.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to integrate with my existing Shopify store?
Without further information, it's impossible to definitively say. VDB Ring Creator's description mentions customization to match your website theme, which suggests a focus on integration. However, both apps require installation and configuration within your Shopify admin panel.
Which app offers a better return on investment?
VDB Ring Creator likely offers a better return on investment if your target audience is interested in customizable rings. The interactive experience and potential for increased customer engagement could lead to higher sales and customer loyalty. Shirtly's value is less clear given its poor rating.
What are the potential drawbacks of using Shirtly?
The primary drawback is the low rating and lack of reviews, indicating potential issues with functionality, customer support, or overall user experience. More research is needed to determine the specific problems.
How does VDB Ring Creator handle virtual inventory?
VDB Ring Creator allows you to select suppliers and product selection to create virtual inventory, meaning you can offer more options without stocking them. The exact mechanics of this integration (e.g., dropshipping or supplier integration) would need to be explored directly with the app developer.
If I sell both rings and shirts, which app should I choose?
You would need both apps. VDB Ring Creator is explicitly for rings, and Shirtly is for apparel. They solve different business needs, and are not competitive.
