Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to improve the visual appeal and user experience of your Shopify store by creating custom pages and sections, Shogun ‑ Landing Page Builder is the clear choice. It offers a visual editor, templates, and elements to design various page types. Conversely, if your main objective is to increase your average order value (AOV) through upselling and cross-selling strategies, Upsell & Cross Sell — Selleasy is the better option. It provides features like "frequently bought together" bundles and checkout upsells designed to encourage customers to spend more per transaction. Choosing depends on the merchant's priority - aesthetics and control with Shogun, or direct AOV increase with Selleasy.
Common Questions
Can I use Shogun to create upsell popups?
Shogun's primary function is visual page design. While you could potentially design elements that resemble upsell popups using Shogun's editor, it lacks the dedicated upselling functionality of Selleasy. You'd be manually creating the design and logic, which is less efficient.
Does Selleasy offer any page design capabilities?
Selleasy focuses on upselling and cross-selling features, not page design. While it embeds widgets on pages, the app doesn't offer tools to redesign the underlying pages themselves. You would use Shogun to design the pages Selleasy interacts with.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
It depends on the immediate need. If the new store needs basic design improvements, neither may be essential at the start. However, if you quickly have products and wish to maximize early sales, Selleasy might offer more immediate revenue benefits. Ultimately, design comes after setup.
Are these apps mutually exclusive or can they be used together?
These apps are complementary and can be used together. Shogun can design visually appealing product pages, while Selleasy can add upselling and cross-selling features to those same pages to increase AOV. Shogun improves the base presentation and Selleasy enhances the sales process.
Which app is more suitable for a store selling a wide range of products?
Selleasy might be more beneficial for a store with a wide product range. The app's "frequently bought together" and related products features can help customers discover items they might not have found otherwise, increasing AOV across the extensive catalog. Shogun can enhance the visual presentation of these products.
