Shopify Collabs vs Shopify Formsfor Shopify (2026)
Shopify Collabs and Shopify Forms, while both falling under the 'Marketing and Conversion' categories in the Shopify app store, cater to very different needs. Shopify Collabs focuses on affiliate marketing, allowing merchants to build and manage affiliate programs to drive sales through creator collaborations. It emphasizes creator recruitment, commission management, and performance tracking. Conversely, Shopify Forms centers on lead generation and contact list growth through customizable forms embedded within the store. Its strengths lie in capturing visitor information, integrating with customer profiles, and offering incentives to boost conversions. The primary distinction lies in their core functions: Collabs aims to leverage external creators to expand reach and drive sales through affiliate partnerships, whereas Forms focuses on capturing and converting website visitors directly into leads and customers. Collabs emphasizes automated commission tracking and creator relationship management, while Forms prioritizes form customization, data segmentation, and incentive offers. Thus, a merchant looking to expand their reach via external promoters will find Collabs more suitable, while a merchant aiming to optimize on-site lead capture will benefit more from Forms.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on expanding their marketing reach through collaborations with influencers and affiliates, Shopify Collabs is the better choice, offering features like automated commission payments and creator recruitment tools. However, merchants who prioritize building their email list, capturing leads directly on their website, and converting visitors into customers should opt for Shopify Forms. Forms excels at customization and incentivization, allowing merchants to tailor forms to match their brand and offer targeted discounts to potential customers.
If a merchant needs both functionalities, they should consider using both apps in conjunction. Shopify Forms can capture initial leads, while Shopify Collabs can be used to engage influencers and affiliates to further promote the brand and drive sales to a pre-existing customer base or through new channels that the merchant themselves might not be able to tap into.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
While subjective, based on the app descriptions, Shopify Forms likely has a shorter learning curve for initial setup, focusing on form creation and placement. Shopify Collabs, with its affiliate program management, potentially involves more configuration and relationship building.
Can Shopify Collabs and Shopify Forms be used together?
Yes, they address different parts of the marketing funnel. Shopify Forms can capture leads, and Shopify Collabs can be used to engage those leads or acquire new customers through affiliates.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
Shopify Forms might be a more immediate win for a new store as it helps build an initial contact list and gather customer data from the start. Collabs is more effective when there's already some brand awareness or a product that influencers are naturally interested in.
Does either app offer a free plan?
Shopify Collabs states 'Get set up for free, and only pay when sales are driven.' Forms description doesn't mention pricing, but that it may offer a free plan or trial is plausible since the description focuses on features.
How do Shopify Collabs and Shopify Forms handle customer data?
Shopify Forms stores, segments, and leverages customer data within a secure platform according to its description. Shopify Collabs is focused on tracking attribution and order tracking in the affiliate program but it is likely that at least some customer data is collected as part of this process.
