Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants in India requiring GST-compliant invoices and reporting, WebPlanex: GST Invoice India is the clear choice. Its high rating and focus on GST regulations make it a valuable tool for automating invoice generation and ensuring compliance. The support for multi-location fulfillment and sales reports tailored for GSTR-3B and GSTR-1 are critical features for businesses operating in India. Shopify Order Printer, while free and customizable, is best suited for merchants who need general-purpose, highly customizable print documents (like packing slips and pick lists) and are comfortable using HTML, CSS, and Liquid for template editing. Its lower rating suggests that some users have experienced issues with the app, and its lack of GST-specific features makes it unsuitable for businesses that require GST compliance.
Common Questions
Which app is better for creating branded invoices?
Both apps offer branded invoices, but WebPlanex emphasizes GST-compliant branding with your store logo, legal name, address, and phone number. Shopify Order Printer allows for deeper customization using HTML, CSS, and Liquid for branding, but requires more technical skill.
Which app handles GST calculations?
WebPlanex: GST Invoice India specifically handles GST calculations, including calculating GST based on fulfillment location. Shopify Order Printer does not include any GST calculation features.
Which app is easier to use for a non-technical user?
WebPlanex is likely easier for non-technical users due to its automated invoice generation and template-based customization. Shopify Order Printer's reliance on HTML, CSS, and Liquid makes it more complex for those without coding knowledge.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, yes. You could use Shopify Order Printer for packing slips and pick lists, and WebPlanex for GST-compliant invoices if the former offered features such as detailed customization of pick lists, but using two apps for similar functions may lead to process redundancies and is not generally advisable.
Which app is better for a small business with limited resources?
WebPlanex is likely better for a small business in India needing GST compliance, despite being likely paid. The time saved automating GST invoices and reports may outweigh the cost. Shopify Order Printer's free price point is attractive, but the time investment for customization and lack of GST support are significant drawbacks.
