Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder vs theMarketer: Email marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder and theMarketer: Email marketing represent distinct approaches to enhancing the customer experience and driving sales on Shopify. Shopney focuses on creating native mobile apps (iOS and Android) for a Shopify store, aiming to boost conversions by offering a faster, personalized shopping experience directly on customers' mobile devices. Its key strength lies in mobile app development, offering features like personalized product merchandising, real-time in-app live chat, and integration with other Shopify apps. It targets merchants looking to provide a premium mobile shopping experience, increase customer retention, and reduce reliance on expensive social media advertising. In contrast, theMarketer: Email marketing concentrates on email marketing, loyalty programs, and related strategies to improve customer retention and drive sales. TheMarketer aims to streamline marketing processes, optimize resources, and nurture customer lifetime value through email campaigns, SMS, push notifications, loyalty programs, referral programs, and customer feedback mechanisms. It targets merchants who prioritize email marketing and loyalty programs for customer engagement and want to automate these processes to maximize their impact. While both apps technically fall under the "Customer Loyalty" category, their primary functions and target audiences differ significantly.

Our Verdict
Shopney ‑ Mobile App Builder is the clear choice for merchants who want to offer their customers a dedicated mobile shopping experience, similar to established brands with their own apps. The large number of reviews (684) suggest the app is well-established and trusted. It's especially suited for stores with a loyal customer base that would benefit from the convenience and personalization of a native mobile app.
However, theMarketer: Email marketing is better for stores that primarily rely on email marketing and loyalty programs to engage their customers. The significantly smaller number of reviews (2) suggests the app is newer or less widely adopted. If a merchant's marketing strategy heavily revolves around email campaigns, customer segmentation, and loyalty rewards, TheMarketer is the more relevant solution, though due diligence is recommended given the low review count.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Shopney claims to offer a one-click mobile app build, implying a very simple setup process. TheMarketer claims an automatic data sync, suggesting a smooth integration with the store's data.
Which app is better for reducing marketing spend?
Shopney explicitly states it can decrease marketing ad spend by increasing retention and repeat sales through the mobile app. TheMarketer doesn't directly claim to reduce ad spend, but effective email marketing and loyalty programs can contribute to lower customer acquisition costs.
Which app offers better customer support?
Shopney highlights its 'one-of-a-kind customer support' and claims to work with people that want you to grow. TheMarketer does not explicitly mention the quality of their customer support in the description.
Which app integrates better with other Shopify apps?
Shopney explicitly states it has a 'rich integration suite' to bring along must-have apps. TheMarketer focuses on data syncing and doesn't directly mention integration with other apps beyond that.
Are both apps suitable for small businesses?
Both apps can be used by small businesses. Shopney can provide a premium feel and engage the most loyal customers, while TheMarketer allows automated email campaigns and loyalty program set up. Businesses with limited development resources may benefit from Shopney's no code approach, but would be wise to consider the impact of low app usage if the business is nascent.
