Singleton | Verify Customers vs Taxify: VAT Dual Price Displayfor Shopify (2026)
Singleton | Verify Customers and Taxify: VAT Dual Price Display are both highly-rated Shopify apps in the Pricing category, but they cater to vastly different needs. Singleton focuses on restricting access to store content and controlling customer visibility, essentially acting as a gatekeeper for your store. It allows merchants to approve or decline customer registrations, hide prices and 'add to cart' buttons from unapproved users, and customize the registration process with custom fields. This positions it as a tool for businesses with exclusive products, wholesale operations, or those requiring a validated customer base. Taxify, on the other hand, addresses VAT compliance and transparency by displaying prices both inclusive and exclusive of VAT. It focuses on adapting to different regional tax requirements and providing the right price display for each customer, essential for businesses operating in multiple tax jurisdictions. The core difference lies in their objectives. Singleton is about access control and customer validation, while Taxify is about tax compliance and price transparency. Singleton gives merchants granular control over who sees what in their store, while Taxify provides the correct pricing based on customer location and tax status. The review count significantly favors Singleton, suggesting broader adoption or a longer lifespan in the Shopify app store as of 2026, but this does not negate Taxify's value for its specific target audience. Therefore, merchant choice is highly dependent on the problem they are trying to solve.

Our Verdict
For merchants needing to control who accesses their products and pricing, such as wholesale businesses or those with exclusive offerings, Singleton | Verify Customers is the clear choice. Its customer verification and access control features are specifically designed for this purpose. However, for businesses operating across multiple regions with varying VAT regulations, Taxify: VAT Dual Price Display is the more suitable option. It handles the complexities of VAT compliance and ensures that customers see the correct prices based on their location. Choosing between them depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs: access control or VAT compliance.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Taxify likely offers a simpler setup process as it mainly involves configuring VAT rules. Singleton's setup might be more involved, particularly when creating custom registration forms and defining approval workflows.
Can both apps be used together?
Yes, in theory, they can be used together. Singleton can control *who* sees prices, and Taxify can control *which* prices are displayed (VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive) to those who *can* see them. However, careful planning and testing would be necessary to ensure they don't conflict.
Does Singleton support VAT exemption for approved customers?
Based on the description, Singleton doesn't explicitly support automatic VAT exemption. While you could manually tag and manage VAT exemptions, Taxify is better suited for automatic VAT handling.
Which app is better for B2B businesses?
It depends. If the B2B aspect requires controlled access and custom registration (e.g., collecting business licenses), Singleton is better. If it's primarily about handling VAT and different tax regulations for business clients, Taxify is better.
How do these apps affect the user experience?
Singleton can create a more restrictive user experience for unregistered users. Taxify aims for a more transparent and user-friendly experience by showing the correct price based on location. Both can be customized to minimize any negative impact.
