Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on efficiently updating SKUs and barcodes in bulk for large inventories and prefer a one-time payment, SKU Auto | Bulk SKU Generator offers a straightforward and cost-effective solution. Its simple feature set is advantageous if you don't need label printing or advanced barcode formats. Conversely, SKUGen is the better choice for merchants requiring a more robust solution with barcode generation in various formats, label printing capabilities, duplicate SKU protection, and retail integration. The subscription-based model of SKUGen is acceptable if the increased functionality is critical to their business operations and growth.
Common Questions
Which app is more cost-effective in the long run?
SKU Auto, with its one-time lifetime payment, is likely more cost-effective over an extended period, assuming its features adequately meet the merchant's needs. SKUGen's subscription cost must be factored in over time.
Which app is better for printing retail barcode labels?
SKUGen is the clear winner for label printing, offering custom templates, layout options, size adjustments, and image inclusion. SKU Auto does not appear to support any label printing.
Which app offers duplicate SKU protection?
SKUGen explicitly mentions duplicate SKU protection as a key feature, whereas SKU Auto does not. This is critical to maintain data integrity.
Which app is easier to use for basic bulk SKU editing?
Based on the descriptions, SKU Auto appears to be more straightforward for basic bulk SKU editing, focusing on the core function without the added complexity of label printing and other features. However this cannot be determined definitively without use testing.
Can both apps integrate with my point-of-sale (POS) system?
Neither app explicitly mentions POS integration in their descriptions. However, the ability of SKUGen to print retail barcode labels and create barcodes in common formats implies a potential for integration with POS systems that accept these barcode types.
