Social Photos ‑ Instagram UGC vs Whatmore Shoppable Videos+Reelfor Shopify (2026)
Social Photos ‑ Instagram UGC and Whatmore Shoppable Videos+Reel are both Shopify apps designed to leverage social media content for increased sales and social proof. Social Photos focuses on static user-generated content (UGC) from Instagram and customer uploads, displaying them as curated galleries on product and landing pages. Its strength lies in creating authentic visual experiences using photos, customizable to match brand aesthetics and allowing product tagging for direct conversions. It's ideal for merchants seeking to build trust and showcase real customer experiences through static images. Whatmore Shoppable Videos+Reel, on the other hand, prioritizes video content, specifically Instagram Reels and TikTok videos. It automates the process of importing, tagging (using AI), and displaying these videos across the store to create interactive shopping experiences. Its focus is on engagement and conversion through dynamic video content, catering to merchants looking to leverage the popularity of short-form video platforms to drive sales. Whatmore also emphasizes fast page load times, making it suitable for stores concerned about site performance. A key differentiating factor is Whatmore's auto-syncing and AI tagging, offering a more automated approach compared to Social Photos' more manual UGC curation.
