Spring GDS vs xConnectorfor Shopify (2026)
Spring GDS and xConnector are both Shopify apps focused on shipping, but they cater to different needs and markets. Spring GDS, backed by PostNL, positions itself as an end-to-end solution for *cross-border* e-commerce. Its primary strength lies in managing international shipments and returns through a network of reliable international carriers. xConnector, in contrast, focuses on providing tools for creating shipping labels and invoices, primarily with *local* couriers. It also offers features like a 'collect points' widget and a mobile app for picking and packing, suggesting a broader scope within fulfillment. The significant difference in user reviews (0 for Spring GDS vs. 61 for xConnector) also impacts the perception of trust and reliability. Spring GDS boasts a seamless Shopify integration, whereas xConnector is very specific about the local couriers it integrates with.

Our Verdict
xConnector appears to be the stronger choice for merchants primarily serving customers within a specific geographic region, especially those listed in the supported countries. Its high rating and positive reviews, coupled with features like bulk label creation, calculated rates, and a mobile app, make it a comprehensive fulfillment tool. Spring GDS, while promising for cross-border e-commerce, lacks user validation and the explicit feature details provided by xConnector. If your priority is specifically international shipping and you trust the PostNL backing, Spring GDS might be worth exploring, but with caution due to the absence of reviews. xConnector is the safer option given the available information.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
xConnector is likely better for a new store due to its user reviews and wider array of features beyond just shipping. The positive rating and additional tools may make fulfillment operations easier and more efficient.
Which app is better for businesses shipping to multiple countries?
Spring GDS *claims* to be ideal for international shipping due to its focus on cross-border e-commerce, but its lack of reviews makes it risky. If you need to ship *specifically* with PostNL's global network, it might be an option. If you need to ship to many international locations but are unsure of your carriers, xConnector might be a good start since you can build custom integrations using its APIs.
Does xConnector support US shipping?
Based on the description of couriers supported, there's no explicit mention of major US carriers, which means the support for US shipping is likely limited and may need to be handled through a third-party integration.
How does Spring GDS integrate with Shopify?
Spring GDS mentions 'seamless Shopify integration,' implying a standard connection. However, details regarding the specific functionality are missing. You may need to contact them directly to find out the details
Does xConnector have a free plan?
The provided information doesn't specify pricing details for either app, so it's impossible to determine if either offers a free plan. This will need to be determined by checking both apps in the Shopify App Store.
