Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation vs Taxify: VAT Dual Price Displayfor Shopify (2026)
Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation and Taxify: VAT Dual Price Display, while both operating within the Finances and Taxes categories on Shopify, cater to drastically different needs. Tax Rex focuses on US sales tax automation, offering features like automated filing, accurate reporting, economic nexus alerts, and streamlined state registration. It's positioned as an all-in-one solution for US merchants struggling with the complexities of sales tax compliance. Taxify, conversely, concentrates on VAT display for international sales, particularly in Europe. It facilitates the display of prices with and without VAT, caters to B2B and B2C customers, and supports multi-language displays. Taxify also offers European VAT ID validation. The core difference lies in their geographic focus and the specific tax challenges they address. Tax Rex solves US sales tax reporting and filing, while Taxify tackles VAT transparency in international markets. This means Tax Rex is beneficial for US-based businesses navigating state-level sales tax laws, and Taxify is ideal for businesses selling to European customers or those needing to display VAT inclusive and exclusive prices simultaneously. Our Verdict
For US-based merchants primarily selling within the United States and struggling with sales tax reporting and filing, Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation is the clear choice. Its focus on US state sales tax, automated filing capabilities, and economic nexus alerts make it a valuable asset for simplifying compliance. Taxify: VAT Dual Price Display, on the other hand, is ideal for businesses selling internationally, particularly in Europe, and needing to display prices with and without VAT. The VAT ID validation feature further enhances its utility for businesses engaging in B2B sales in Europe.
For a merchant only selling within the US, Taxify would be useless. Similarly, for a merchant only selling to consumers in Europe, Tax Rex offers no benefit and Taxify becomes the obvious choice. Therefore, the best app depends entirely on where the merchant sells and the regulations they need to comply with.
