Our Verdict
Choosing between Tax Rex and Taxomate depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If the primary concern is managing US sales tax, including reporting, filing, and monitoring economic nexus, Tax Rex is the clear choice. Its focus on sales tax automation makes it ideal for businesses operating in multiple US states or anticipating future nexus obligations.
However, if the goal is to seamlessly integrate Shopify sales data into QuickBooks or Xero for accounting purposes, Taxomate is the more suitable option. Its focus on automating accounting tasks, calculating COGS, and providing inventory valuation makes it invaluable for merchants who prioritize accurate financial reporting and reconciliation. Taxomate is the better choice if the merchant already relies on QuickBooks or Xero for accounting.
