Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation vs Taxuallyfor Shopify (2026)
Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation and Taxually are both Shopify apps designed to automate tax-related tasks, but they cater to distinctly different markets. Tax Rex focuses on US state sales tax compliance, providing features for reporting, filing, economic nexus tracking, and new state registration. Its strong user rating and substantial number of reviews suggest a well-received solution for US-based e-commerce businesses grappling with the complexities of multi-state sales tax. Taxually, on the other hand, is geared towards EU VAT compliance, offering automated data synchronization, VAT calculations, and return submissions. Its lower rating and minimal reviews imply it is either newer to the market, has a smaller user base, or faces usability challenges, likely serving EU-based merchants or those selling into the EU.

Our Verdict
For US-based e-commerce businesses needing help with state sales tax reporting and filing, Tax Rex ‑ Sales Tax Automation is the clear choice. Its high rating, numerous positive reviews, and specific features like economic nexus alerts and marketplace order exclusion make it a strong contender. Taxually, while offering VAT automation for EU compliance, suffers from a significantly lower rating and very few reviews. It may be suitable for merchants specifically needing EU VAT solutions, but the limited user feedback suggests caution. Merchants should carefully evaluate Taxually's functionality and support before committing, especially considering Tax Rex’s more established positive reputation for US tax needs.
