Our Verdict
The choice between Tax Rex and Xendo IOSS depends entirely on your business's operational location and target market. If you're a US-based business struggling with US state sales tax compliance, Tax Rex is the clear choice, offering automated reporting, filing, and nexus monitoring. The relatively high number of positive reviews suggests a well-received solution. However, if you are a UK-based seller selling to the EU and need a simple, pay-as-you-go IOSS solution, Xendo IOSS is the appropriate option. While it has significantly fewer reviews, its focus on IOSS makes it a specialized tool for that specific need.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
While both apps boast ease of use, Xendo IOSS may be simpler initially due to its pay-as-you-go model and no-contract policy. Tax Rex's setup might be more involved due to the complexities of US state sales tax laws and registration procedures.
Which app offers better long-term value?
For US-based businesses, Tax Rex potentially offers more long-term value by automating the entire sales tax compliance process and providing economic nexus alerts, preventing costly penalties. For UK businesses selling to the EU, Xendo’s 'no contract' policy makes it flexible, but comparing against alternative fixed cost solutions is recommended to see if it’s truly best value at high order volumes.
What happens if I sell both in the US and the EU?
You would likely need both apps, or a more comprehensive solution that handles both US sales tax and EU IOSS. These apps are designed for different jurisdictions.
Is Tax Rex compatible with all US states?
While the description states it helps with sales tax reports and filings for US states, it's essential to verify with Tax Rex's documentation or support team if it covers all states, especially those with unique sales tax rules.
Does Xendo IOSS handle all EU countries?
Xendo IOSS focuses on IOSS compliance for sales to EU customers. Its effectiveness across all EU countries depends on their specific IOSS implementation. It's recommended to check with Xendo's documentation or support for confirmation regarding specific EU countries.
