Our Verdict
If a merchant is concerned about comprehensive ADA and WCAG compliance and seeks a broad-based accessibility solution to mitigate legal risks and improve overall website inclusivity, UserWay Website Accessibility, despite its lower rating, *might* be the starting point, but with extreme caution due to the very low rating and limited reviews. Thorough research is advised. However, if the primary goal is to improve SEO through optimized image alt text, especially for stores with numerous product variants, then Variant Alt Text King: SEO seems like the better choice, considering its perfect rating and focus on automated alt text generation. It offers a targeted solution for a specific need, likely at a lower price point and with a potentially simpler implementation process.
Common Questions
Which app is better for full ADA compliance?
UserWay claims to provide a jumpstart to ADA compliance, but given the low rating, merchants should thoroughly research and understand the extent of coverage. Variant Alt Text King: SEO focuses on the image alt text aspect of ADA compliance. True full compliance likely requires a combination of tools and manual effort.
Does Variant Alt Text King: SEO handle all types of accessibility issues?
No, Variant Alt Text King: SEO focuses exclusively on optimizing image alt text for improved accessibility and SEO. It doesn't address other accessibility concerns like keyboard navigation, color contrast, or screen reader compatibility beyond image descriptions.
Is UserWay easy to set up and use?
Given the limited and negative reviews, it's difficult to ascertain ease of use. The description mentions AI-powered solutions, suggesting a relatively straightforward implementation, but user experiences may vary.
Can Variant Alt Text King: SEO improve my Google image search rankings?
Yes, that is a primary goal of the app. By automatically generating SEO-optimized alt text for product images, it aims to make images more discoverable by search engines, potentially improving image search rankings.
What happens if I install both apps?
Installing both apps is possible, but could lead to redundancy or conflict. UserWay may offer alt-text functionality, potentially overlapping with Variant Alt Text King: SEO. Merchants should carefully evaluate the features and functionalities of both apps to avoid unnecessary overlap and ensure they work cohesively. It's essential to understand each app's scope and prioritize the needs of your Shopify store.
