WAX: marketing on WhatsApp vs WhatsApp Connect ‑ Nextelfor Shopify (2026)
WAX: marketing on WhatsApp and WhatsApp Connect - Nextel both aim to help Shopify merchants leverage WhatsApp for marketing, sales, and support. However, they differ significantly in their current standing and focus. WAX, with a perfect 5/5 rating from 41 reviews, positions itself as a GDPR-compliant, France-based platform focused on high-performing conversational marketing through automated flows, abandoned cart recovery, and back-in-stock alerts. It appears to target merchants seeking a robust, proven, and user-friendly solution for automated WhatsApp communication. In contrast, WhatsApp Connect - Nextel has no reviews at this time and emphasizes features like AI-powered customer support in local languages, CoD double confirmation for reduced returns, and catalog commerce through an AI agent. While also offering abandoned cart reminders and order updates like WAX, Nextel strongly positions itself as offering advanced AI-driven functionality for both customer support and product recommendations. It might appeal to merchants comfortable experimenting with newer features and prioritizing advanced AI capabilities. However, merchants should proceed with caution given the lack of existing reviews.

Our Verdict
WAX: marketing on WhatsApp is the safer choice for most merchants, especially those prioritizing ease of use, established performance, and GDPR compliance. Its proven track record and positive reviews provide confidence in its capabilities. It's a good fit for businesses wanting to automate WhatsApp marketing without deep AI integration.
WhatsApp Connect - Nextel, despite its lack of reviews, might be attractive to merchants specifically seeking advanced AI-powered customer support and product recommendation features. However, due to the absence of user feedback, it's recommended to proceed with caution. Consider trialing it extensively and carefully evaluating its performance before committing. It's best suited for early adopters comfortable with potentially unproven technology.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the data, WAX: marketing on WhatsApp is likely easier to set up and use given its higher rating and existing user base. Established apps tend to have better documentation and a more refined user experience. However, this is inferred and not explicitly stated.
Which app offers better customer support?
WhatsApp Connect - Nextel explicitly focuses on AI-powered customer support in local languages, suggesting a potentially superior support experience, *if* the AI works as advertised. WAX mentions linking to support tools, but the data suggests their support is more focused on guiding merchants using their platform for marketing, not necessarily direct customer interactions within WhatsApp.
Which app is more suitable for recovering abandoned carts?
Both apps offer abandoned cart reminders. However, WAX's focus on conversational marketing and automated flows might provide more customizable and engaging recovery sequences, potentially leading to higher conversion rates. However, without testing, it's difficult to say definitively.
Which app is more affordable?
The provided data does not include pricing information for either app. Therefore, it's impossible to determine which app is more affordable without further research.
Which app is best for large enterprises?
WAX: marketing on WhatsApp, with its proven track record, might be a safer bet for larger enterprises seeking a reliable and compliant solution. However, large enterprises should evaluate both apps' scalability and support capabilities before making a decision. WhatsApp Connect - Nextel's AI features *could* provide significant advantages in handling large volumes of customer inquiries, but its lack of reviews makes it a riskier choice without thorough testing.
