WAX: marketing on WhatsApp vs ZAP~POST Direct Mail Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
WAX: marketing on WhatsApp and ZAP~POST Direct Mail Marketing both aim to enhance customer engagement and drive sales for Shopify merchants, but they employ vastly different strategies. WAX leverages the immediacy and high open rates of WhatsApp for conversational marketing, focusing on abandoned cart recovery, back-in-stock alerts, and post-purchase engagement. ZAP~POST, conversely, targets 'unreachable' customers through personalized postcards and letters, triggered by events like abandoned baskets or customer lapse, offering a physical touchpoint in a digital world. WAX emphasizes real-time interaction and automated conversational flows, while ZAP~POST prioritizes reaching customers who may be unresponsive to digital marketing efforts. The core difference lies in their chosen communication channel. WAX offers a platform for interactive, dynamic engagement through WhatsApp, requiring active customer participation. ZAP~POST provides a more passive, 'always-on' approach with direct mail, aimed at capturing attention through a tangible medium. WAX requires integration with support tools for seamless chat management, suggesting a need for ongoing customer service. ZAP~POST emphasizes a 'set it & forget it' automation, suitable for merchants seeking hands-off marketing solutions for specific customer segments.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking to actively engage customers through interactive conversations and leverage the high open rates of WhatsApp, WAX is the stronger choice. Its conversational flow builder and integrated support tools offer a comprehensive platform for real-time customer interaction and targeted marketing campaigns. However, its success hinges on customers being active on WhatsApp and responsive to digital communication.
ZAP~POST caters to merchants who struggle to reach specific customer segments through digital channels. Its 'set it & forget it' automation via Shopify Flows and personalized direct mail approach provide a hands-off solution for re-engaging lapsed customers or reminding them about abandoned carts. This app is particularly valuable for businesses targeting an older demographic or those whose customers may be less digitally engaged.
