Sidekick: Add Tip or Donation Option at Checkout

Help me add a tip or donation option to my Shopify checkout:

Set up the tip or donation option:


  
    Option placement - Add the tip or donation selector after the order summary and before the payment section. Frame it positively: “Support our team” for tips, or “Make a difference” for charity donations. Keep it visually lightweight so it does not distract from completing the purchase.
  
  
    Amount options - Display [3-4] preset amount buttons: [AMOUNT 1], [AMOUNT 2], [AMOUNT 3], and a “Custom” option for entering a different amount. Also include a “No thanks” option so customers never feel pressured.
  
  
    Percentage-based option - Alternatively, offer percentage-based options (for example, round up to the nearest dollar, add 5%, add 10%) that scale with the order total. Show the calculated dollar amount next to each percentage.
  
  
    Charity information - If this is a donation, include a one-line description of the charity and what the donation supports. Add a small charity logo. Link to the charity website for customers who want to learn more.
  
  
    Order total integration - When a tip or donation is selected, update the order total in real time. Show it as a separate line item in the order summary labeled “Tip” or “Donation to [CHARITY NAME].”
  
  
    Reporting - Track total tips or donations collected per day, week, and month. Create a report showing the percentage of orders that include a tip or donation and the average amount.
  
  
    Tax handling - Configure whether the tip or donation is taxable or tax-exempt based on your local regulations. For charitable donations, ensure the amount is excluded from sales tax calculations.
  
  
    Fulfillment notes - Add a note to orders with tips so your team is aware and can include a thank-you message in the package.
