SKU Organization System

Help me create a SKU organization system for my store:

My product types: [List your main categories - e.g., T-shirts, Hoodies, Accessories, Shoes]
Variants I use: [e.g., Size (S/M/L/XL), Color (Red/Blue/Black), Material]
Number of products: approximately [X]
Current SKU situation: [No SKUs / Random SKUs / Partially organized]

Design a SKU system that includes:


  Format structure: e.g., [CATEGORY]-[STYLE]-[COLOR]-[SIZE]
    
      Example: TS-CREW-BLK-L = T-shirt, Crew neck, Black, Large
    
  
  Category codes (2-3 letters for each product type)
  Style/product codes (unique per product)
  Variant codes (standardized for colors, sizes, etc.)
  Rules:
    
      Maximum SKU length
      Characters to avoid
      Numbering for new products
    
  


Then help me:

  Generate SKUs for my existing products
  Create a reference guide/cheat sheet
  Set up the SKUs in Shopify


Requirements:

  Easy to read and understand at a glance
  Scalable (works when I add new products/categories)
  Sortable and searchable
  Works with barcode/label printing
