While the concept of adding custom metadata to collections is valuable, some apps lack robust features, have poor support, or come with a prohibitive price tag. Specifically, with Collection Additional Fields having no ratings or reviews, merchants might be hesitant to rely on it for mission-critical tasks and seek more established and supported solutions for adding and managing custom data for their collections and products.
Collection Additional Fields allows you to add custom metadata fields to your store's collections.
You have an awesome product to sell, so why to showcase it in a boring old fashion style.
Enorm Product Slider allows you to showcase products within collections in a visually appealing slider format. If the goal is a more dynamic and engaging presentation of collection products, this offers a direct alternative to a standard collection page layout.
Best for stores that want to showcase collections in a visually engaging slider format.
Meet Sense RTL - align your website layout from right to left with one app!
Sense RTL focuses on right-to-left language support, which is irrelevant to the core functionality of Collection Additional Fields unless the store specifically targets Hebrew-speaking markets. It improves user experience by providing proper language and layout support.
Best for stores that cater to Hebrew-speaking customers and need right-to-left language support.
Metafields are the key to a unique storefront. Our app is the key to metafields. It's that simple.
Metafields Guru directly addresses the need to add and manage custom data, but at the product level, not collections. If the goal is detailed product specifications, downloadable files, related products, or variant descriptions, this is a powerful and well-rated alternative to relying on a potentially unsupported app.
Best for merchants who require extensive custom product data and need a robust metafield management system.
Quickly add specification table to 100,000 products or more from Product Attributes & Metafields
TableFlow Specification Table is ideal if you wish to display important product specifications directly on product pages. While not specific to collections themselves, this is a well-regarded alternative to show product specs on the product page, and conditionally add these spec tables for specific products.
Ideal for stores that need to clearly present product specifications using organized tables based on metafields.
Easily add trust badges and seals to increase customer trust and increase your conversion rates.
If the primary goal is to increase sales through trust and credibility, Conversion Bear Trust Badges offers a robust set of features for adding trust badges and payment icons. This can indirectly improve the shopping experience by assuring customers of security, although it doesn't directly provide additional collection metadata.
Best for merchants who need to boost customer trust and conversion rates with visual badges.
Elevate your theme design using ready-to-go sections. Quickly customize to make it your own!
If the desired outcome is to improve the visual appeal and functionality of collection pages without deep coding, Section Star provides ready-made theme sections. This provides customization through pre-built elements, although it doesn't directly allow for adding custom metadata fields.
Ideal for stores that want to enhance their visual design with pre-built, customizable theme sections.
Easily hide/disable sold-out or unavailable or any other variants with Camouflage.
While not directly related to collection metadata, Camouflage improves the customer experience by preventing frustration with sold-out variants. If negative customer experience is a concern, this helps in the same way Collection Additional Fields does by keeping customers happy.
Ideal for stores that want to provide a smooth shopping experience by automatically hiding unavailable product variants.
This app wasn't given with enough data to determine if it is a good fit, but it is worth investigating further.

Product labels, payment icons, trust badge, product icons and more to make your store a trusted site
Similar to Conversion Bear, this app aims to boost customer trust and conversion rates. It provides additional customization options for icons and badges to improve the overall look and feel of the store, indirectly contributing to a positive user experience.
Best for merchants who prioritize visually appealing trust badges and product icons to enhance credibility.
A button allows the user to quickly return to the top of the page without making too much effort.
While seemingly unrelated, RT: Smooth Scroll To Top enhances user experience by providing easy navigation on long collection pages. If collections contain numerous products, this simplifies the browsing experience.
Ideal for stores with extensive collection pages where customers need an easy way to navigate back to the top.
Common reasons include concerns about lack of support or features due to having no reviews, better app performance, more robust features, or simply a different pricing structure. It's crucial to have reliable apps.
No, Metafields Guru focuses on adding custom data (metafields) to products, not collections. However, you can use product metafields to define your collections and filter them through your theme.
Shopify Themes provide many options to style collection pages. Each of the alternatives listed will allow this, in varying degrees of difficulty. Section Star is a no-code option.
While some apps indirectly contribute to SEO through improved user experience (e.g., faster loading times), Metafields Guru can directly enhance SEO by allowing you to add custom meta descriptions and keywords to products that are added to collections.
Most of these apps advertise easy installation and user-friendly interfaces. However, ease of use often depends on your specific needs and technical expertise. Look for apps with good reviews and support documentation.
