Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants vs Collection Additional Fieldsfor Shopify (2026)
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants and Collection Additional Fields are Shopify apps that, while both fitting loosely under the 'Design elements - Other' category, address entirely different merchant needs. Camouflage focuses on improving the customer experience by managing the visibility of product variants based on inventory and other conditions. Its strength lies in its specific focus on preventing customer frustration related to sold-out or unavailable items, and its flexible rules engine. Our Verdict
Camouflage: Hide Sold Variants is the clear choice for merchants prioritizing a smooth and frustration-free shopping experience, particularly those managing numerous product variants and dealing with frequent stock fluctuations. Its high rating and numerous positive reviews suggest reliability and effectiveness. Collection Additional Fields, while potentially useful for store organization and product discovery, is a riskier choice due to the absence of any user feedback. Merchants considering this app should proceed with caution and prioritize testing its functionality thoroughly.
For merchants struggling with high bounce rates due to unavailable product options, Camouflage offers a tangible solution. Collection Additional Fields is better suited for stores where the standard collection page functionality is insufficient for showcasing product details and promoting discoverability, but only once it has proven it is functional and reliable through positive reviews.
