Free checklist & auditGet the free BFCM checklist & auditMerchants often seek alternatives to SKU generation apps like F: SKU Code Generator for a variety of reasons. While F: SKU Code Generator offers easy bulk SKU updates and rule-based generation, some users may find its features limited or its pricing not aligned with their needs, especially as their product catalog grows. Others might be looking for tighter integration with other business processes, reporting capabilities, or advanced features that aren't readily available in the base functionality of F: SKU Code Generator. The limited number of reviews might also cause concern for some merchants who prefer more established solutions with a larger user base and more comprehensive feedback. As Shopify evolves, newer apps may offer more innovative solutions or better value for money.

Most SKU generator apps allow you to export and import SKU data. Check the documentation of both the old and new apps for specific instructions and supported file formats (like CSV).
Not necessarily. Some SKU generator apps, like 506 EasyScan SKU & Barcode, include barcode generation functionality. Evaluate your needs and choose an app that offers both if required.
Good customer support is crucial, especially during the initial setup and migration process. Look for apps with responsive support teams and comprehensive documentation.
If you change your SKUs, it *could* impact your store. Best practice is to minimize any SKU changes and implement 301 redirects if a product page relies on a specific SKU. It's also important to update any external systems that rely on your SKUs, such as marketplaces or accounting software.
