Accessibility Assistant vs ALTTextify ‑ AI Alt Textfor Shopify (2026)
Accessibility Assistant and ALTTextify ‑ AI Alt Text both aim to improve Shopify store accessibility, but take drastically different approaches. Accessibility Assistant offers a comprehensive, front-end focused solution with a customizable accessibility widget and automated scans. It targets merchants seeking an all-in-one solution for ADA, WCAG, EAA & AODA compliance, incorporating keyboard navigation, text-to-speech, and other features accessible to users directly on the website. ALTTextify, in contrast, specializes solely in AI-powered alt text generation, focusing on automating the creation and optimization of alt text for images to improve both accessibility and SEO. The key differentiator lies in their scope: Accessibility Assistant offers a broad suite of accessibility features visible to the end-user, while ALTTextify focuses on a backend, SEO-driven approach to accessibility by enhancing image descriptions. Accessibility Assistant promises to identify gaps in store accessibility with a one-click scan and AI-based alt text, while ALTTextify is dedicated to rapidly improving the accessibility of existing or new images. Considering the existing reviews, Accessibility Assistant appears to have demonstrated its value and reliability to store owners already. ALTTextify, however, is yet to establish its reputation in the Shopify app marketplace.

Our Verdict
Accessibility Assistant is the better choice for merchants seeking a complete, user-facing accessibility solution. Its customizable widget and broad feature set, supported by positive reviews, provide a robust foundation for compliance. It is well-suited for stores that need to meet a range of accessibility standards and improve user experience for customers with disabilities.
ALTTextify ‑ AI Alt Text is ideal for merchants primarily focused on improving SEO and automating alt text creation. Its AI-powered approach and language support are beneficial, but the lack of reviews raises some uncertainty. If a merchant is already happy with their site's existing accessibility measures and just wants to automate the generation of alt text, this might be the better option, although they would be taking on more risk due to the lack of social proof. A merchant would do well to compare both after installing a free trial.
