A&D: Scheduled Gift Cards vs Ribbon | Giftingfor Shopify (2026)
Both A&D: Scheduled Gift Cards and Ribbon | Gifting aim to improve gifting experiences on Shopify, but they approach the problem from fundamentally different angles. A&D: Scheduled Gift Cards focuses on optimizing the traditional digital gift card experience by allowing scheduling, personalization, and automated delivery. It emphasizes seamless integration with a store's existing branding and is positioned as simple and performant, likely targeting merchants who already utilize gift cards and want to enhance that channel. They also offer white-glove installation which could be appealing to merchants less comfortable with the technical implementation. Ribbon | Gifting, on the other hand, offers a more innovative approach by enabling customers to gift specific products directly from product pages without needing recipient sizes or addresses. This caters to merchants who want to expand their customer base through gifting, increase average order value via upsells, and gain insights into popular gift items. Ribbon appears geared towards merchants seeking more active sales and retention strategies centered around gifting, beyond simply offering gift cards. The lower review count for A&D compared to Ribbon could indicate it's a newer app or has a more niche focus.

Our Verdict
For merchants already successful with gift cards and looking to provide a smoother, more personalized experience, A&D: Scheduled Gift Cards is likely the better choice. Its focus on simplicity, accessibility, and brand integration makes it ideal for enhancing existing gift card strategies. The white-glove installation offers extra value to merchants.
However, if the goal is to acquire new customers through gifting, increase AOV with upsells, and gain deeper insights into gifting trends, Ribbon | Gifting is the more suitable option. It offers a more comprehensive gifting platform with product-specific gifting capabilities and features designed to drive sales and retention. Ribbon's approach is a more aggressive strategy designed to actively grow sales. The better option depends on the merchant's pre-existing engagement with gifts.
