AddSearch Search & Discovery vs Recomatic Related Productsfor Shopify (2026)
AddSearch Search & Discovery and Recomatic Related Products both aim to improve the customer experience on Shopify stores, but they tackle different aspects of the shopping journey. AddSearch focuses on enhancing the search functionality with personalized results, AI-powered synonyms, and a streamlined checkout process directly from search. Its core value proposition centers around making internal site searches more effective and conversion-driven. Recomatic, on the other hand, concentrates on related product recommendations, aiming to increase sales by intelligently suggesting complementary or similar items based on sales data and product attributes. Recomatic emphasizes easy installation, theme integration, and performance tracking, providing merchants with tools to optimize their recommendations strategy. While both apps share the 'Search and navigation' Shopify category, their primary functions differ significantly. AddSearch enhances the initial search process, ensuring customers find what they are looking for efficiently. Recomatic, instead, works after a customer is already viewing a product, aiming to upsell or cross-sell related items. The 'Add to Cart' functionality within search results in AddSearch is a crucial differentiator, directly streamlining the path to purchase during the search phase. Recomatic’s theme editor integration offers a more customizable visual experience for recommendations, which is crucial for maintaining brand consistency. The difference in review volume indicates that Recomatic is a more established app with a larger user base, providing a higher degree of social proof.

Our Verdict
For merchants struggling with poor site search functionality and cart abandonment during the search phase, AddSearch Search & Discovery appears to be the stronger choice. Its personalized search results, AI-powered synonyms, and direct 'Add to Cart' feature offer a compelling solution for improving conversion rates directly from search. However, given the very low review count, this comes with added risk; merchants should proceed with caution and test thoroughly.
Conversely, if the primary goal is to boost average order value through strategic product recommendations, Recomatic Related Products is likely the better option. Its focus on sales data, customizability, and conversion tracking provides merchants with a robust tool for optimizing their related product strategy. The significantly higher review count offers greater confidence in its reliability and effectiveness. Therefore, Recomatic is generally the safer choice for most merchants, assuming related product recommendations align with their goals.
