(AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies vs Ribbon | Giftingfor Shopify (2026)
(AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies and Ribbon | Gifting both offer solutions for incorporating gifts into the Shopify experience, but they cater to distinct needs. (AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies focuses on automated freebies and discounts based on cart conditions, offering features like magic links and scheduled campaigns. Its primary strength lies in its ability to incentivize purchases through targeted offers linked to specific criteria like customer geolocation. The app suggests ease of use and an attempt to preserve page speed. Ribbon | Gifting, on the other hand, specializes in enabling customers to gift products to others directly from the product page, without requiring size or address information upfront. This app focuses on increasing sales and customer retention through a seamless gifting experience, offering features like upsells during the redemption process and analytics to track gifting trends. Its strengths are in simplifying the gifting process for customers, increasing AOV through upsells, and providing valuable data on gift-giving behavior. The apps differ significantly in how they approach the problem; the former aims for automated promotions and the latter offers product-as-gift solutions. Given the limited number of reviews for both apps, and especially (AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies, merchants should carefully consider their specific business needs and test the apps thoroughly during their free trial periods (if available). The descriptions provided by the apps should be carefully evaluated to determine which solution is the right fit.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily looking to incentivize purchases with automated freebies and discounts based on pre-set rules and conditions (e.g., reaching a certain order value, targeting a specific geographic location with magic links), (AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies might be a suitable choice. Its focus on promotional automation and targeted campaigns could prove valuable.
However, if the primary goal is to enable customers to easily gift products to others, streamline the gifting process, and gain insights into gifting trends, Ribbon | Gifting is likely the better option. Its emphasis on a smooth gifting experience, upsells during redemption, and data analytics cater specifically to merchants looking to leverage gifting as a customer acquisition and retention strategy. Because Ribbon has significantly more reviews, it should be considered the safer starting point, while (AG) Auto Gift Pro Freebies requires greater caution, as one must assume some risk when installing an application with so little feedback from other users.
