AgeChecker.Net ‑ Age Verifier vs DRINKS ASSUREfor Shopify (2026)
Both AgeChecker.Net ‑ Age Verifier and DRINKS ASSURE are Shopify apps focusing on the 'Legal' category, but they cater to distinct needs within that space. AgeChecker.Net specializes in age verification, ensuring customers meet age requirements before or after checkout. It focuses on verifying customer identity to comply with age-related regulations, offering features like location-based age rules and product-specific verification. The app's value proposition lies in providing a robust age verification solution beyond simple pop-ups, aimed at merchants selling age-restricted products. However, it has very limited reviews. It further provides detailed reports for state filings and optional integration with ShipCompliant. While AgeChecker.Net focuses on the customer's age, DRINKS ASSURE focuses on the product's legality and tax implications.

Our Verdict
Choosing between AgeChecker.Net and DRINKS ASSURE depends heavily on the type of products a merchant sells. If the primary concern is verifying the age of customers purchasing age-restricted goods (e.g., vaping products, certain supplements), AgeChecker.Net is the appropriate choice, assuming the merchant is confident in the quality of a 5-star app with only one review. Its location-based rules and verification dashboard offer targeted age validation.
However, if the merchant is involved in the production or retail of alcohol, DRINKS ASSURE is the superior option. Its real-time tax compliance, pre-configured rules, and integration with the Shopify checkout make it a comprehensive solution for navigating the complexities of alcohol sales. The greater number of reviews suggests a more established and reliable app.
Common Questions
Does AgeChecker.Net handle tax compliance for alcohol sales?
No, AgeChecker.Net focuses solely on verifying customer age. It does not handle any aspect of tax calculation or compliance for alcohol or any other product.
Can DRINKS ASSURE be used for age verification in addition to tax compliance?
DRINKS ASSURE is primarily focused on tax and regulatory compliance for alcohol sales. While it might indirectly contribute to age verification by ensuring sales occur in legally compliant regions, it doesn't offer dedicated age verification features like AgeChecker.Net.
What data sources do AgeChecker.Net and DRINKS ASSURE use to perform their functions?
AgeChecker.Net uses identity networks to verify customer information against age requirements. DRINKS ASSURE uses a database of tax laws, compliance rules, and potentially integrates with services like ShipCompliant for up-to-date information.
Are both apps suitable for merchants selling a wide range of products, including alcohol?
Not directly. AgeChecker.Net is suitable for age-restricted products generally, while DRINKS ASSURE is specifically tailored for alcohol. A merchant selling both would likely need both or a more comprehensive solution.
Which app is easier to use for a merchant with little technical expertise?
DRINKS ASSURE aims for a 'set-it-and-forget' approach, suggesting ease of use once configured. AgeChecker.Net, with its verification dashboard, might require more active management, but further investigation would be required.
