Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants looking to start a dropshipping business quickly and easily, AliDropship: Dropshipping promises a streamlined approach to importing products from AliExpress. However, the extremely low rating and limited number of reviews raise serious concerns about its reliability and user experience. Merchants should proceed with extreme caution, carefully researching user testimonials outside the Shopify app store and possibly looking for alternative dropshipping apps.
Shiptheory, on the other hand, is a clear winner for established Shopify stores dealing with a high volume of shipments. Its 5-star rating and numerous positive reviews suggest a reliable and effective solution for automating shipping processes, integrating with various carriers, and creating flexible shipping rules. If you are already selling products and struggling with shipping logistics, Shiptheory is the far more sensible choice.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
AliDropship claims to offer a one-click import from AliExpress, which sounds simple. However, its low rating suggests potential complexities or issues. Shiptheory offers onboarding and technical support, indicating a potentially more guided and supported setup process, even if it involves more configuration.
Which app is better for a brand new Shopify store?
It depends on your business model. If you plan to dropship, AliDropship is *intended* for this purpose. However, due to its low rating, careful consideration and research are strongly advised. If you already have products and just need shipping solutions, Shiptheory is the better option.
Which app integrates with more carriers?
Shiptheory explicitly states integration with dozens of domestic and international carriers, including Royal Mail, UPS, FedEx, and DPD. AliDropship does not focus on carrier integration, as it's primarily concerned with importing products from AliExpress.
Which app offers better customer support?
AliDropship claims 24/7 support, but the app's low rating casts doubt on its effectiveness. Shiptheory offers onboarding and technical support from experts, implying a potentially more helpful and reliable support system.
Which app is more likely to save me money?
Shiptheory explicitly states that it helps save retailers time and money by automating shipping processes and reducing errors. AliDropship focuses on product sourcing, not necessarily cost savings on shipping. Potential savings with AliDropship would come from sourcing cheaper products, but shipping costs are not directly addressed.
