Our Verdict
For merchants simply looking to offer Cash on Delivery without any complex shipping customizations, Amai COD *might* suffice, provided the low rating isn't a concern. However, given the limited information and negative user feedback reflected in its low rating and small number of reviews, it's difficult to confidently recommend it. For merchants requiring sophisticated shipping rules, granular control over rates based on products, locations, delivery dates, or customer attributes, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip is the clear choice. Its high rating, abundant reviews, and rich feature set indicate a reliable and powerful solution.
Based solely on the provided information, the superior user feedback and wealth of advanced shipping features found in Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip position it as the preferred option for the vast majority of merchants with even moderately complex shipping needs. The merchant's priority of shipping complexity is therefore the decisive factor. Unless COD is the only requirement, ShipZip is the better choice.
Common Questions
Does Amai COD offer the ability to set shipping rates based on product weight or dimensions?
Based on the available information, Amai COD does not appear to offer shipping rate calculation based on product weight or dimensions. Its focus seems to be strictly on enabling Cash on Delivery payments.
Does Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip support international shipping?
While the description mentions zip code-based shipping and distance, there is no explicit mention of international shipping support. It would be necessary to verify this functionality directly with the app developer.
Is Amai COD easier to set up and use than Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip?
Given its likely simpler functionality focused on COD, Amai COD is probably easier to initially set up. However, the complexity of Shipping & Delivery - ShipZip allows for significant customization. Depending on the user's needs for shipping flexibility, set up difficulty is a reasonable tradeoff.
What are the potential drawbacks of using Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip?
Potential drawbacks include the requirement for Carrier Calculated Shipping API (which might incur additional costs) and a potentially steeper learning curve due to the complexity of setting up advanced shipping rules. The app also requires a paid plan to function fully, which might not be suitable for very small businesses.
Are there any free alternatives to Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip that offer similar features?
Based on the information given, finding an alternative with equivalent functionality for free is unlikely. Advanced shipping rule engines typically require significant development effort and are usually offered as paid services. The alternative would be coding it directly into Shopify.
