Attentive: AI‑led Email &SMS vs Dataships Checkout Opt‑infor Shopify (2026)
Attentive: AI-led Email &SMS and Dataships Checkout Opt-in both aim to grow email and SMS lists for Shopify merchants, but their approaches differ significantly. Attentive positions itself as a comprehensive, AI-powered mobile marketing platform, focused on personalization at scale across multiple channels (SMS, Email, Push, RCS). It emphasizes fast list growth through patented two-tap units, optimized deliverability, and personalized messaging driven by rich identity data. Attentive appears targeted towards larger merchants seeking a full-fledged marketing solution. Dataships, on the other hand, specializes in checkout opt-in optimization. It focuses on transforming the checkout process into a powerful acquisition channel while ensuring compliance with privacy regulations. Its key strength is dynamic consent management, adapting forms based on visitor location. It's designed for merchants who want to maximize opt-ins during checkout and prioritize compliance, particularly those concerned with international privacy laws. While Attentive covers multiple marketing facets, Dataships zeroes in on checkout acquisition and consent management.

Our Verdict
Merchants seeking a comprehensive, AI-driven marketing platform with a focus on personalization at scale should consider Attentive, despite its slightly lower rating. Its multi-channel approach and emphasis on identity data make it suitable for businesses aiming for deep customer engagement. However, merchants whose primary goal is to maximize email and SMS opt-ins specifically at checkout and prioritize compliance with global privacy regulations should strongly consider Dataships. Its perfect rating and specialized focus on dynamic consent management make it ideal for those operating in diverse markets with varying privacy laws. Dataships also appears to be a great add-on if Attentive is already used.
Common Questions
