Australia Post Collect vs Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZipfor Shopify (2026)
Australia Post Collect and Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip are both Shopify apps focused on delivery and pickup solutions, but they target vastly different needs and merchant types. Australia Post Collect is highly specialized, catering exclusively to merchants who utilize Australia Post's eParcel service and want to offer convenient collection point options for their customers. Its core strength lies in simplifying the process of providing Australia Post's collection network as a delivery alternative. Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip, on the other hand, offers a much broader and more flexible approach to shipping configuration, allowing merchants to create complex shipping rules based on a wide array of factors, including product attributes, customer location (zip code), order date, and cart parameters. It is designed for merchants who need granular control over their shipping rates and delivery options. The key differentiator lies in the scope and complexity of the shipping solutions they provide. Australia Post Collect is a streamlined solution focused solely on Australia Post's collection point network. ShipZip provides a complete advanced shipping rules management solution. This makes ShipZip a more comprehensive choice for larger businesses with sophisticated shipping needs, whilst Australia Post Collect targets businesses who seek simplicity, convenience and integration with the Australia Post collection points. The app with more reviews and features appears to offer more flexibility in the long run, although the single Australia Post Collect review makes it hard to truly ascertain long-term usefulness.

Our Verdict
For merchants already using Australia Post's eParcel service and seeking a straightforward way to offer collection point deliveries, Australia Post Collect is the clear choice. Its simplicity and integration with the Australia Post network make it a targeted solution. However, for merchants needing flexible and customizable shipping rules based on various product, customer, and order attributes, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip offers a more robust and comprehensive solution. While it may require a steeper learning curve and more configuration, ShipZip's advanced features provide greater control over shipping costs and customer delivery experiences.
The difference in review count is significant and must be noted. While both apps have a 5/5 rating, ShipZip has 350 reviews versus the one review for Australia Post Collect. This is an indication of a wider user base and therefore greater real-world testing. While a single review is not inherently unreliable, potential users should take this information into consideration when making their decision.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Australia Post Collect is likely easier to set up, due to its limited scope and focus on a single carrier and delivery method. Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip, with its extensive features, will likely require a more involved configuration process.
Which app is suitable for international shipping?
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip, requiring the Carrier Calculated Shipping API, can be adapted for international shipping, providing the merchant has the correct carrier API linked. Australia Post Collect appears to be limited to domestic (Australia) eParcel shipments.
Can I set different shipping rates for different products with either app?
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip explicitly supports shipping rates based on product attributes like SKU, tags, and vendor. Australia Post Collect does not offer this functionality.
Does either app support local delivery and store pickup?
Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip supports local delivery and store pickup with features like order limit time slots and delivery date selection by zip code. Australia Post Collect focuses exclusively on Australia Post collection points and does not offer direct local delivery or store pickup features.
Which app is better for small businesses with simple shipping needs?
For small businesses primarily shipping within Australia via Australia Post eParcel, and wishing to add a Collection Point service, Australia Post Collect may be a better starting point because of it's specialization. For other shipping needs and scenarios, Shipping & Delivery ‑ ShipZip offers more generalized shipping rule configuration, which may suit a small business better.
