BestChat: AI Chatbot+Live Chat vs Shopify Knowledge Basefor Shopify (2026)
BestChat: AI Chatbot+Live Chat and Shopify Knowledge Base cater to different aspects of AI integration within a Shopify store. BestChat focuses on direct customer interaction through an AI-powered chatbot and live chat system, aiming to boost sales and customer satisfaction by providing 24/7 support and seamless Shopify integration. It positions itself as a comprehensive solution for automating customer support and leveraging AI for sales enhancement. Shopify Knowledge Base, on the other hand, is designed to manage and optimize the information AI agents use when interacting with customers. It allows merchants to view and customize FAQs used by AI agents to answer questions about their store, ensuring brand accuracy and highlighting unique selling points. The focus here is on controlling the quality and relevance of AI-generated responses, rather than directly engaging customers through a chatbot interface. Shopify Knowledge Base prioritizes providing data-driven answers instead of a live agent response. The most significant difference lies in their application of AI. BestChat utilizes AI for active customer engagement and support automation, while Shopify Knowledge Base employs AI to ensure that when other AI systems (likely including Shopify's own) answer customer questions, they do so accurately and in line with the brand's desired messaging.

Our Verdict
Given the data available, Shopify Knowledge Base appears to be the more reliable choice in 2026 based on the current user ratings. The perfect 5/5 rating, although from a small sample of users, suggests that it delivers on its promise effectively. It's ideally suited for merchants who want to ensure consistent and accurate information is being delivered by AI agents interacting with their customers. It is especially useful if the merchant already sells products that rely on data-driven decision-making from customers.
BestChat, with its concerning 0/5 rating despite a larger number of reviews, carries significant risk. While its promise of AI-powered customer support and increased sales is appealing, the overwhelmingly negative feedback suggests that it may not be delivering as promised. However, it could potentially suit Shopify merchants that may benefit from an AI powered sales assistant but should only be installed by Shopify merchants if the reviews dramatically increase and the rating becomes positive.
