BIRSE: Visual Search vs Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEOfor Shopify (2026)
BIRSE: Visual Search and Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO are both Shopify apps focused on improving the customer's experience on a store, but they address fundamentally different problems. BIRSE aims to enhance product discovery and conversion through visual search, AI-powered recommendations, and a wishlist feature. Its target audience is merchants looking to improve product discoverability, boost cross-selling, and provide a more engaging shopping experience. Redirect Pro, on the other hand, tackles the issue of broken links and their negative impact on SEO. It helps merchants maintain a seamless customer journey and protect their search engine rankings by automatically detecting and redirecting 404 errors. The core difference lies in their functionality and target users. BIRSE is proactive, focusing on enhancing the shopping experience and driving sales through product discovery. Redirect Pro is reactive, addressing a potential issue (broken links) that can negatively impact SEO and user experience. While both fall under the general category of search and navigation, BIRSE caters to merchants seeking to optimize product visibility and engagement, while Redirect Pro targets those concerned with maintaining SEO integrity and preventing customer frustration caused by broken links.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on enhancing product discoverability, improving conversion rates through visual search, and providing a more engaging shopping experience, BIRSE: Visual Search is the better choice. Its AI-powered recommendations and wishlist feature offer a proactive approach to boosting sales and customer satisfaction.
However, if a merchant is primarily concerned with maintaining their SEO ranking, ensuring a seamless customer experience by preventing 404 errors, and simplifying store migrations, Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO is the more suitable solution. Its automated redirect rules and spreadsheet upload functionality provide a reactive but essential defense against the negative impacts of broken links. For a large catalog with constantly changing products, Redirect Pro is almost essential.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to install and use?
Based on the descriptions, Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO appears to be easier to set up and use, especially for merchants already familiar with 301 redirects or spreadsheet uploads for bulk changes. BIRSE: Visual Search, with its AI-driven features, may require more initial configuration and potentially ongoing maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
Which app is better for increasing sales?

Redirect Pro, while not directly focused on increasing sales, can indirectly contribute by preventing customer frustration and maintaining a positive brand image, which can lead to repeat business.
Which app is more important for SEO?
Redirect Pro ‑ 404 SEO is directly related to SEO, as it addresses broken links, which can negatively impact search engine rankings. BIRSE: Visual Search can indirectly improve SEO by enhancing user engagement and reducing bounce rates, but its primary focus is not on SEO.
Which app has better customer support?
The descriptions mention 'professional support' for BIRSE. There is no mention of customer support for Redirect Pro within the context provided. Therefore, assuming that 'professional support' is adequate, BIRSE would appear to have the edge. Further research is needed.
