BIRSE: Visual Search vs Search & Discovery ‑ Viselyfor Shopify (2026)
BIRSE: Visual Search positions itself as an all-in-one search engine solution, heavily emphasizing visual search capabilities and AI-driven product recommendations based on visual preferences. It appears to target merchants who want to leverage the power of visual cues to enhance product discovery and cross-selling. Search & Discovery - Visely, on the other hand, focuses on improving overall search relevancy and user engagement through tailored filters, recommendations, and real-time catalog syncing. It aims to streamline the search process and make it easier for customers to find what they're looking for, regardless of catalog size. While both apps aim to improve the search experience, BIRSE's core differentiator is its visual search and style-based recommendations, alongside a recently added wishlist feature. Visely, in contrast, offers broader customization options for filters, recommendations placement, and user experience, including international and business shoppers. The number of reviews indicates Visely may have a larger user base and possibly more comprehensive real-world testing, though BIRSE’s higher review ratio could indicate newer, enthusiastic users.

Our Verdict
For merchants whose products are highly visually appealing or where style and aesthetic are primary purchase drivers, BIRSE: Visual Search is likely the better choice. Its emphasis on image recognition and style-based recommendations caters specifically to that need. The newly added wishlist feature also adds value. However, for merchants with large or complex catalogs, particularly those serving international or business shoppers, Search & Discovery - Visely offers a more robust and customizable search solution. Its tailored filters, real-time catalog sync, and UI best practices offer a comprehensive approach to search optimization. The significantly higher number of reviews provides more social proof, which is important when selecting an app.
