Bony: Checkout Rules & COD vs Razorpay COD & Magic Checkoutfor Shopify (2026)
Bony: Checkout Rules & COD and Razorpay COD & Magic Checkout both aim to optimize the Shopify checkout experience, but their approaches and target audiences differ significantly. Bony focuses on granular control over payment and shipping methods using rules-based configuration, appealing to merchants who need precise control over which payment options are available to specific customers, products, or locations. Razorpay COD & Magic Checkout, on the other hand, emphasizes conversion rate optimization and RTO (Return to Origin) reduction through AI-powered features like auto-filled information, risk detection, and dynamic COD enablement. It targets merchants prioritizing checkout speed, a streamlined user experience, and minimized losses due to undeliverable orders, particularly in markets like India where COD is prevalent. The key difference lies in their core value propositions. Bony provides the tools for merchants to create very specific rules governing the checkout process, ensuring compliance and preventing potentially fraudulent activities. Razorpay prioritizes boosting conversions and reducing RTOs through intelligent automation and personalized user experiences. The choice depends on whether a merchant needs precise control and customization or a more automated and conversion-focused solution.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing granular control over payment and shipping options based on specific conditions (e.g., hiding COD for international orders, limiting free shipping by weight), Bony: Checkout Rules & COD is likely the better choice. Its rules-based approach provides the necessary tools for compliance and fraud prevention.
However, for merchants primarily focused on maximizing conversion rates, improving the checkout experience, and reducing RTOs, especially in markets where COD is prevalent, Razorpay COD & Magic Checkout offers a more compelling solution. Its AI-powered features and emphasis on automation make it a strong contender for merchants seeking to optimize their checkout funnel and minimize losses due to undeliverable orders. The lower rating compared to Bony warrants further investigation into the specific reasons behind the scores.
Common Questions
Which app is better for preventing fraudulent COD orders?
Both apps offer features to combat fraudulent COD orders. Bony uses 'smart checkout conditions' to block risky COD, while Razorpay employs ML-based real-time risk detection and intervention. Razorpay appears to provide more advanced AI-driven fraud prevention, but the choice depends on the complexity of fraud patterns a merchant faces.
Which app is easier to set up?
Both apps claim to be easy to set up. Bony suggests its rules can be configured with 'few clicks', while Razorpay claims to be 'Easy to setup and install. Go live in less than 5 mins!'. Based on these claims, Razorpay might offer a faster initial setup, but Bony's claim is too vague for comparison.
Which app is better for merchants selling internationally?
Bony offers specific features related to international orders, such as applying payment rules to allow prepaid only for international orders. Razorpay doesn't explicitly mention international features, so Bony is likely more suitable for international merchants needing granular control over payment options by region.
How do the apps differ in their approach to customization?
Bony focuses customization on creating rules to dictate payment and shipping options. Razorpay offers broader customization with branded colors, themes, layouts, and logos, providing a more comprehensive approach to aligning the checkout experience with the brand.
Which app offers better support for diverse payment methods?
While both apps likely support major payment methods, the description of Razorpay COD & Magic Checkout focuses on AI-powered payment method suggestions. Bony does not claim to offer any suggestion of payment methods, implying that the suggested payment method are done so by the checkout system itself and the app focuses on enabling and disabling of such.
