Brand It! Calendar vs XO Insert Codefor Shopify (2026)
Brand It! Calendar and XO Insert Code, while both categorized under 'Content' on the Shopify App Store, serve fundamentally different purposes. Brand It! Calendar is a specialized app designed to integrate live, branded calendars directly into a Shopify store. Its primary strength lies in simplifying the display of schedules, events, and promotional campaigns by automatically syncing with popular calendar platforms. It's clearly targeted at merchants who need to communicate time-sensitive information to their customers in a visually appealing and automated way. XO Insert Code, on the other hand, is a general-purpose tool for inserting code snippets (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) into various sections of a Shopify store. It caters to a broader audience, particularly those with some technical knowledge or who need to customize their store's functionality or track analytics using external services. The key distinction lies in their functionality: Brand It! Calendar provides a visually focused, pre-built solution for displaying calendar data, emphasizing ease of use and aesthetic integration. XO Insert Code offers raw power and flexibility for developers and technically inclined merchants to inject custom code, prioritizing customization and control over visual presentation. While both apps have a perfect 5/5 rating, XO Insert Code boasts significantly more reviews, suggesting wider adoption and a longer track record.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a seamless, visually appealing way to display schedules, events, or promotional campaigns directly within their Shopify store, Brand It! Calendar is the clear winner. Its strength lies in its automated synchronization with existing calendars and its emphasis on on-brand styling, requiring minimal technical expertise.
However, for merchants who need to implement custom functionalities, tracking scripts, or advanced styling tweaks beyond the capabilities of standard Shopify themes, XO Insert Code provides the necessary power and flexibility. This app is best suited for users with some degree of comfort in working with code or who have access to technical support. The choice hinges on whether you prioritize ease of use and visual presentation (Brand It! Calendar) or raw customization and control (XO Insert Code).
Common Questions
Can both apps display my store's opening hours?
Brand It! Calendar can display your store's opening hours if they are entered into a supported calendar (Google, Outlook, etc.). XO Insert Code *could* be used, but requires manual coding of the schedule and would be far more complex than using Brand It! Calendar.
Which app is better for adding Google Analytics tracking?
XO Insert Code is the more appropriate choice for adding Google Analytics tracking code. Brand It! Calendar is not designed for this purpose.
Which app is easier to use for a beginner?
Brand It! Calendar is significantly easier for beginners as it is designed to be user-friendly and integrates directly with existing calendars. XO Insert Code requires coding knowledge, making it less accessible for non-technical users.
If I want to show a weekly class schedule, which app should I use?
Brand It! Calendar is the ideal solution for displaying a weekly class schedule. It can automatically sync with your calendar and display it in a visually appealing format on your storefront. XO Insert Code could technically be used, but would require significantly more effort and coding.
Does either app slow down my store's loading speed?
Both apps *can* potentially impact loading speed if used incorrectly. Brand It! Calendar may load external calendar data, which could introduce delays if not optimized. XO Insert Code, if poorly written or excessively complex code is inserted, can also negatively affect performance. Optimized code and efficient calendar configurations are crucial for both.
